  • Publication number: 20130137111
Abstract: It was found that a new fusion gene of a portion of the KIF5B gene and a portion of the RET gene, which is present in a portion of cancer patients, is a gene responsible for cancer. Based on this finding, detection methods of a polynucleotide as the gene and a polypeptide encoded by the polynucleotide were established. The detection methods involve detecting a fusion gene of a portion of the KIF5B gene and a portion of the RET gene, or a fusion protein encoded by such a fusion gene. The primer sets and the detection kits comprise sense primers designed from a portion encoding KIF5B and antisense primers designed from a portion encoding RET.
