Abstract: In a navigation system, a detailed map of an area surrounding the vehicle is displayed in a window on a monitor on the scale designated by a user, and main roads extending outside the map displayed in the window are displayed in a deformed image around the window, so that the map of the surrounding area is displayed in detail, and only the main roads are simply displayed outside the window.
