  • Patent number: 5978322
Abstract: The data recorded on an optical disk is read by an optical pickup. After the thus obtained signal has been subjected to a waveform equalization process by a waveform equalizer, it is demodulated via a data slicer. A parameter for obtaining a waveform equalization characteristic best suited for reading the recorded data has been recorded on the optical disk. The demodulated parameter is decoded by a data processor. The data processor switches the waveform equalization characteristic of the waveform equalizer.
