  • Patent number: 7448806
Abstract: A rotation support device for a compressor pulley, wherein a three-point contact radial ball bearing (14b) is used as a rolling bearing for supporting a driven pulley, the cross sectional shape of an inner ring raceway track (19b) coming into contact, at one point, with the rolling contact surface of each ball (17a) is formed in a composite arc by smoothly and continuously connecting arcs with different radii of curvature R1 and R2 to each other, and the radius of curvature R1 on a center side in the width direction is made smaller and the radii of curvature R2 on the both end sides in the width direction are made larger (R1<R2) whereby the durability of the rolling bearing for supporting the driven pulley can be assured while reducing the size of the rolling bearing.

  • Patent number: 6168316
Abstract: A rotary bearing assembly (10) for a motor vehicle water pump employs a spindle (11) with a central region (14) surrounded by an outer bearing ring (15). The ring (15) and spindle central region (14) have axially spaced complementary raceways (16, 17) on their confronting surfaces in angular contact with sets of balls (18). The spindle central region (14) adjoins one end region (12) with the same diameter as the central region and an opposite end region (13) of smaller diameter. The end region (12) is driven by a belt-and-pulley of the vehicle engine while the smaller end region (13) drives an impeller of the water pump. The set of balls (18) adjacent the driven end region (12) has a full complement of balls (18) in mutual contact while the smaller diameter end region (13) has the balls spaced apart with a cage (22).

  • Patent number: 5522667
Abstract: A ball bearing for use in a turbocharger comprising a housing and a rotating shaft for connecting an impeller to a turbine, the outer ring is supported by the housing therein, and the inner ring is fitted onto the rotating shaft in an axially mid portion thereof comprises an outer ring, an inner ring, a plurality of balls with a retainer between the outer ring and the inner ring, the retainer being made of a heat resistant synthetic resin, and guided by the outer ring, the bearing having a gap 14 for lubricant communication formed between the outer peripheral surface of the retainer 10 and the inner peripheral surface of the outer ring 6, and the gap 14 having a gap dimension t14 from 1.0% to 3.5% of the outer diametric dimension R of the retainer 10 at a room temperature.

  • Patent number: 4874259
Abstract: A bearing device assembly includes a water pump shaft supported by a rolling bearing, and a plulley seat press fitted to one end of the water pump shaft. A recess or recesses in the form of a ring-shaped groove, a spiral-shaped groove, and a groove extending in the axial direction of the shaft, or the like are formed in at least one of the peripheral surface of the one end portion of the water pump shaft and the inner surface of the pulley seat. The recess prevents formation of an oil film on the fitting surface between the water pump shaft and the pulley seat at the time of press fitting the pulley seat, and also allows the remaining oil on the fitting surface to flow into the recess.

  • Patent number: 4696587
Abstract: In a bearing including an inner race and an outer race disposed concentrically, a plurality of rolling members interposed between the two races, and two ring members of synthetic resin axially spaced on the outer peripheral surface of the outer race and wherein a rotating member is inserted in the inner race and the outer race is fitted and held in a non-rotating member through the ring members, two circumferential grooves are provided at an interval in the outer peripheral surface of the outer race. Each of the circumferential grooves comprises a first portion located toward a respective axial end of the outer race and whose bottom surface comprises an arcuate surface of a single radius, and a second portion located more toward the opposite axial end than the first portion and being narrower and shallower than the first portion.
