    Abstract: An air/water-tight slide fastener has an end stop. The end stop has a flange portion extending therearoud. At least part of the flange is extensive enough to be integrally fixed to the opening edges of an opening formed in an article. Since the flange portion is firmly clamped by and between the air/water-tight fastener tape and the opening edges of the opening of the article; when the air/water-tight slide fastener is folded on itself; the excessive bending stresses exerted directly on the air/water-tight fastener tape is relaxed or mitigated. The air/water-tight fastener tape is thus prevented from being peeled off at that position.

Each of the slide surfaces is formed with steep incline surfaces and a gentle incline surface. With the cam mechanism, when the male member and the female member are pressed from both surfaces thereof, an insert plate disposed at one of the male member and the female member is automatically guided to an inside of the slider held by a holding portion disposed at the other of the male member and the female member, which simultaneously causes the slider to start moving.

    Abstract: An airtight waterproof slide fastener having a pair of fastener stringers in which a side edge of an airtight waterproof tape is bent so as to wrap and hold plurality of coupling elements having a coupling heads from a flange side thereof so as to form an engagement tooth holding portion having a substantially &OHgr;-shaped cross section and a peripheral face of that engagement tooth holding portion is nipped and fixed by means of a substantially U-shaped clamp element having of a pair of sheet-like nipping pieces. The clamp element is provided with stress-releasing portions between clamp elements for releasing tensile stress generated in a tape portion existing between side faces of the adjacent nipping pieces when the airtight waterproof tape is bent between the adjacent clamp elements, so as to secure air-tightness and not to be broken easily even if it is bent strongly in its longitudinal direction.

A spring mounted in the guide post acts on an actuating arm of the locking lever to urge a locking pawl of the locking lever to normally project into a fastener-element guide channel of the slider body. An ornamental knob attached to the pivoting release member covers exposed part of the slider body. As the knob is pulled to pivotally move the release member, the locking pawl is retracted from the guide channel.
