  • Patent number: 8022200
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of liquid, storage-stable isocyanate mixtures which are characterized by a low color number and which contain carbodiimide (CD) and/or uretonimine (UI) groups. This invention also relates to the isocyanate mixtures obtained by this process, to their use for the preparation of blends with further isocyanates, and to the preparation of prepolymers containing isocyanate groups and of polyurethane plastics, preferably polyurethane foams from these isocyanate mixtures.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 1, 2005
Date of Patent: September 20, 2011
    Assignee: Bayer MaterialScience AG
Inventors: Stefan Wershofen, Manfred Schmidt, Hans-Georg Pirkl, Nobuhiro Kamiyama, Shinichi Murakami, Tetsuo Harada
  • Publication number: 20100120992
Abstract: Purpose: A process for preparing a liquid organic isocyanate having a carbodiimide group and/or an uretonimine group, excellent in storage stability. Solution: In a process for preparing a modified polyisocyanate by carbodiimidizing an organic polyisocyanate in the presence of a phospholine-based catalyst, silicon dioxide particles having a specific surface area of at least 400 m2/g and an oil absorption of at least 180 ml/100 g are used to adsorb and inactivate the catalyst to thereby terminate the carbodiimidization reaction.
    Type: Application
    Filed: November 24, 2007
    Publication date: May 13, 2010
Inventors: Nobuhiro Kamiyama, Tomoaki Fukuba, Takashi Mano
