  • Publication number: 20030064132
Abstract: Warm and wet air are applied to brown rice with germinated germs, produced by adding water to the brown rice, for removing water attached to a surface of the rice. A surface of the germinated brown rice is polished by a rice-polishing machine while remaining the germinated germs to obtain rice with germinated germs. Water of about 1 to 10% of rice weight is added to soften the rice surface. The rice and granules whose granule size is set to a constant granule size smaller than that of the rice and which is heated to 60° C. or higher are mixed with the rice and stirred. Rice bran remaining on a rice surface after polishing is absorbed by the granules and is removed. And, the rice and granules are separated from each other.

  • Publication number: 20030007919
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for producing carbon fiber including the following processes: a process for obtaining fine carbon fiber by thermally decomposing an organic compound in a furnace by use of a catalyst; a process for separating a reaction exhaust gas contained in the carbon fiber; a process for continuously subjecting the carbon fiber to thermal treatment in a non-oxidative atmosphere; and a process for incinerating a thermal treatment exhaust gas generated in the thermal treatment and/or the reaction exhaust gas.

  • Patent number: 6464950
Abstract: A method for producing carbon fiber including the following processes: a process for obtaining fine carbon fiber by thermally decomposing an organic compound in a furnace by use of a catalyst; a process for separating a reaction exhaust gas contained in the carbon fiber; a process for continuously subjecting the carbon fiber to thermal treatment in a non-oxidative atmosphere; and a process for incinerating a thermal treatment exhaust gas generated in the thermal treatment and/or the reaction exhaust gas. The method for separating a reaction exhaust gas from carbon fiber is characterized in that a packed carbon fiber layer is formed, an inert gas is caused to flow through the layer, and the layer is compressed. Combustion of the reaction exhaust gas and combustion of the exhaust gas generated from the subsequent thermal treatment is achieved through employment of a pilot burner holding flame at all times in a vertical incinerator.

  • Publication number: 20010033885
Abstract: A method of and an apparatus for manufacturing no-bran cereal such as no-bran rice which require no washing before cooking. With the method and the apparatus, bran stuck on a surface of a grain of the polished cereal is easily removed without imparting any damage on the surface, and further moisture in the grain is maintained to increase taste of the cereal. Moisture is added to the polished cereal and granular material is mixed and stirred with the moistened polished cereal to polish a surface of each grain of the polished cereal and remove bran stuck on the surface of the polished cereal. Then, the polished cereal is separated from the granular material to obtain the no-bran rice.

  • Patent number: 5846591
Abstract: A pretreatment process in a flour milling method in which raw wheat grains are first polished and the polished grains are ground and milled for producing end flour, includes a first, a second, a third polishing step, and a step of adding water. In the first polishing step a pericarp of each wheat grain is removed, in the second polishing step a seed coat of each raw wheat grain is removed, and in the third polishing step a part of cell walls of aleuron layer cells that was in contact with the removed seed coat is removed so that a cell membrane of the aleuron layer cell is caused to be ruptured and that a substance in the aleuron layer cell is caused to be in a state which permits the substance to flow out.

  • Patent number: 5773066
Abstract: Raw wheat grains are polished after being subjected to a first water addition and being tempered, and the polished wheat grains are ground after being subjected to a second water addition and being tempered. The first water addition is to cause the raw wheat grains to have a water content of 12-14%. The tempering of the raw wheat grains is performed for 16-36 hours so that the water sufficiently penetrate into the inside of the raw wheat grains. The method of flouring includes the steps of measuring a water content of the flour obtained by the grinding of the grains, comparing the amount of the measured water content with a predetermined target water content of the flour, and adjusting the amount of water to be added during the second water addition if there is a difference between the measured water content and the predetermined target water content.

  • Patent number: 5511469
Abstract: There is disclosed an abrasive type vertical grain milling machine in which a space formed between any two adjacent ones of abrasive rolls serves as a jet air groove. The space serving as the jet air groove is of such an axial size that grain to be milled can come into and out of the space. Preferably, an axial thickness of the abrasive roll is 1.5.about.4 times larger than an axial magnitude of the space.

  • Patent number: 5295629
Abstract: A vertical type grain-milling machine has a perforated bran removing cylinder arranged vertically with respect to a machine frame; a main shaft which is rotatably provided within the perforated bran removing cylinder; and a milling roll and a screw roll which are in abutment with each other and which are mounted on the main shaft, the milling roll being associated with a grain discharging section and the screw roll being associated with a grain supplying section. The perforated bran removing cylinder is surrounded by an air in-take frame which has a large number of through-holes for causing in-flowing air to have a downward component of orientation. The discharging of the bran externally of the machine is enhanced and the adherence of bran onto the inner wall of the air in-take frame and the perforated bran removing cylinder is prevented.

  • Patent number: 5121931
Abstract: A noncontact mechanical seal has a seal ring which includes a sealing face portion formed by ventilative porous materials and a ventilating portion to pass a gas of a high pressure side to the sealing face portion from the back side of said sealing face portion. The sealing face portion is preferably a porous ring independently formed of said seal ring and mounted on the seal ring providing a space at the back side thereof. The seal ring preferably is provided with a small diameter thin portion at the portion forming the bottom of the space.
