  • Patent number: 8938236
Abstract: Even when the mobile terminal (UE) redirected from the UMTS cell to the LTE cell by the redirecting technology cannot start the communication with the LTE system, the communication with the UMTS system can be started. A mobile terminal (UE) according to the present invention is instructed to be redirected from a UMTS cell to an LTE cell by a radio control apparatus (RNC), in an overlapped area between the UMTS cell in which communication with a UMTS system is available and the LTE cell in which communication with an LTE system is available, by transmitting a connection request signal including an LTE supported identifier for indicating that the LTE system is supported to the radio control apparatus (RNC) of the UMTS system.

  • Publication number: 20130059579
Abstract: The present invention allows a mobile terminal which recognizes a UMTS cell as a serving cell to display that the mobile terminal is in the coverage of an LTE cell near the serving cell on a standby screen without performing any cell search of the LTE cell. In an overlapping area between the UMTS cell and the LTE cell, the mobile terminal of the present invention recognizes the UMTS cell as a serving cell which the mobile terminal camps on or is connected to, is provided with an estimation section that estimates that the mobile terminal is in the coverage of LTE cell, when received broadcast information includes an LTE cell detection identifier, and a display section that displays that the mobile terminal is in the coverage of LTE cell, when the estimation section estimates that the mobile terminal is in the coverage of LTE cell.

  • Patent number: 7831261
Abstract: A communication terminal capable of efficiently performing download of a file is provided. A communication terminal 1 includes an input detection section 10, a request section 12, a reception section 14, and a recognition section 16. When the input detection section 10 detects an input of an information request number by a user, the request section 12 transmits a request to a network 6 to transmit a service-availability information. The service-availability information consists of area information indicating whether or not a serving cell of the communication terminal 1 is included in an HSDPA service area and resource information indicating whether or not allocation of HSDPA resource to the communication terminal 1 is possible, when the serving cell of the communication terminal 1 is included in the HSDPA service area.

  • Patent number: 7493137
Abstract: The present invention provides a mobile station able to shorten the processing time of selecting a serving base station and able to select an appropriate serving base station with which the mobile station communicates. Mobile phone 40 receives an advertisement message from a peripheral base station 30, until state of communication path to the peripheral base station remains above a reference level over the predetermined time period, ‘Treselection’, wherein the reference level is calculated by adding the parameter ‘Qhyst’ to state of communication path to the current serving base station. After detecting peripheral base station 30, mobile phone 40 ignores the detection that the condition of changing base stations is fulfilled for another peripheral base station 30, until data storage area is updated in accordance with an advertisement message from the peripheral base station 30.
