  • Patent number: 4862856
Abstract: In the evaporated fuel control system according to this invention, a plurality of evaporator lines that connect the fuel tank and the engine are provided with two canisters, that is, a first canister installed in the first evaporator line used only during fuel filling and a second canister installed in the second evaporator line. These two canisters are controlled in such a way that the first canister is communicated with the fuel tank only during fuel filling and that only when the vapor fuel can be purged into the engine, the first canister is communicated with the engine. This construction prevents the vapor fuel in the tank from leaking out into the open air when the fuel is supplied into the fuel tank. It also allows the evaporated fuel to be recovered for reuse. This construction also assures safety in the event of an accident or system failure.
