  • Patent number: 8515260
Abstract: Entry points are managed so they are easy for users to understand. The data recording apparatus has a receiver unit that receives a stream of encoded digital data; an analyzer that detects change in an attribute of the received stream and that outputs the detection information; a controller that generates management information containing the detection information output by the analyzer and time information indicating detection time of the change as a first entry point; a drive that records the management information and the received stream to a data storage medium; and an input unit that defines a second entry point. This second entry point is set relative to the playback path of the stream and is used to access and read from a particular point in the stream. The controller further generates the management information containing the first entry point and the second entry point separately identified.

  • Patent number: 8270817
Abstract: A recording apparatus is for a DVD on which a TS-VOB, and pieces of playback path information each showing a playback path of the TS-VOB are recorded. When extended control with various contents can be executed by an apparatus at the time of playback, an extended attribute section in which extended control is valid is specified in accordance with the contents of the extended control. When an extended attribute section is to be uniformly specified for playback paths of the TS-VOB, a section marker for specifying a location of the extended attribute section of the TS-VOB is generated in VOB information. When an extended attribute section is to be individually specified for one playback path, a section marker specifying a location of the extended attribute section of the playback path is generated in PGC information. The generated VOB information and PGC information are written to the DVD.

  • Patent number: 6771394
Abstract: The present invention provides an image scanning apparatus 100 including a stand block 1 having a support arm 3, a scan type illumination device 5 for applying a slit-shaped light beam 8 onto a surface of a manuscript 2, and a manuscript image scanning device 4 mounted on the support arm 3 for receiving the slit-shaped light beam 8 reflected from the surface of the manuscript 2 and having a manuscript image. The scan type illumination device 5 applies the slit-shaped light beam 8 in a direction 11 vertical to the longitudinal direction of the slit-shaped light beam 8. The manuscript image scanning device includes a manuscript image input block 13 and a light detecting device 14 for receiving the reflected light 8′ output from the manuscript image input block 13. The manuscript image input block 13, in synchronization with the scan operation of the scan type illumination device 5, introduces the reflected light 8′ into a predetermined position of the light detecting device 14.

  • Patent number: 6572951
Abstract: A printing sheet which prevents setoff while transferring a sufficient quantity of ink and maintains necessary dot uniformity can be obtained by ensuring characteristics that the centerline average roughness showing the larger value is 1.0-3.5 &mgr;m and the ratio of centerline average obtained by dividing the larger value by the smaller value is less than 1.15 where said values are chosen at the point where the difference between the centerline average roughness in a certain direction and the centerline average roughness at right angles to said direction is maximal. Further, the abovementioned quality is further improved by appropriately ensuring that the oil absorbability is more than 4 mg/cm2 and less than 7 mg/cm2 when the contact time between the oil component having a surface tension of 27-30 mN/m at 20° C. and the printing sheet is 5 seconds and/or that the median pore diameter is 1.7-3.5 &mgr;m, in addition to the abovementioned characteristics.
