  • Patent number: 4540264
Abstract: A focusing device in a camera comprises a lens barrel having a lens system, the lens barrel together with the lens system being moved along the optical axis to focus the lens system on an object locted in the range of ordinary photographing distances and on an object located in the range of closest focusing distances shorter than the ordinary photographing distances, a detector for detecting a distance to an object, to provide an output signal according to the distance thus detected, a main drive system for moving the lens barrel in response to the output signal provided by the detector, to focus the lens system on the object located in the range of ordinary photographing distances, and an auxiliary drive system with a member operated by the operator. The auxiliary drive system moving the lens barrel independently of the main drive system, to focus the lens system on the object located in the range of closest focusing distances.

  • Patent number: 4482234
Abstract: An automatic focusing device includes a detecting device for detecting a state of an object image formed by an objective lens, a driving device for driving the lens in response to the detecting device, and a setting device for setting a moving range in which the lens is movable by the driving device. The moving range may be selected from mutually different plural ranges including a first range and a second range which have a mutually overlapping portion, or including a range containing a part of a normal moving range and a part of a macro-photographing moving range. Further, the moving range may be selected by setting an end position thereof beyond which the lens is prevented from moving.

  • Patent number: 4464037
Abstract: A camera having alternately selectable shutter release priority and focus control priority modes of operation. In the shutter release priority mode, operation of an automatic focusing device is inhibited when the shutter is actuated, and the shutter may be released irrespective of whether the photographic image is in focus. In the focus control priority mode, the shutter cannot be released unless the image is in focus. When the camera is in the shutter release priority mode, photographs may be taken in rapid succession without regard for precise focusing.

  • Patent number: 4451729
Abstract: A device for automatically focusing an objective lens includes detecting means capable of detecting the positional relation of the objective lens with respect to an in-focus position at which an image of an object is formed on a predetermined focal plane, means including an electric motor and moving the objective lens toward the in-focus position by the motor, and means for controlling the driving of the motor in response to the detecting means. The control means includes a power supply circuit means for connecting the motor to a power source, a braking circuit means for short-circuiting the two terminals of the motor, and means for alternately operating the power supply circuit means and the braking circuit means to thereby decelerate the revolution of the motor when the objective lens is within a predetermined range near the in-focus position.
