  • Patent number: 4047603
Abstract: A multi-speed bicycle free wheel assembly comprises a free wheel body and a plurality of sprocket wheels different in diameter and fixedly mounted on the free wheel body, the free wheel body including an inner ring or driven member, an outer ring or drive member, a ratchet mechanism interposed between the two members for transmitting one way drive power to the outer ring, and a screw cup screwably secured to one side of the free wheel body, the screw cup having an annular flange formed integral with and extending circumferentially from a screw cup body, the annular flange extending parallel to and beyond the smallest sprocket wheel so as to prevent a bicycle drive chain from being accidentally disengaged outward from the smallest sprocket wheel disposed outmost relative to other larger sprocket wheels.

  • Patent number: 4046025
Abstract: A bicycle speed change lever device is combined with a fixing band having a pair of expandable open ends, wherein at least one inside nut holding means is formed with the open ends of the fixing band for supporting an inside nut. A cup member is mounted to the fixing band so as to receive the inside nut holding means in order to eliminate external projections with the fixing band. A lever handle is movably mounted on the cup member and a threaded shank passes through the cup member and the lever handle in engagement at its inner end with the inside nut.

  • Patent number: 3964330
Abstract: In a protective device to be incorporated in a bicycle rear derailleur for preventing a drive chain from being unexpectedly disengaged with the smallest sprocket wheel, the device has an internally threaded cylindrical portion and a substantially flat flange portion extending integrally from one end of said cylindrical portion, said cylindrical portion being screwable, in place of a lock nut, onto a standard mounting bolt which is employed in the known rear derailleurs for connecting a shifter body to a hook-shaped bracket; said flange portion being designed so that it extends, when incorporated with the rear derailleur, in parallel and slightly spaced with the opposite surface of the smallest sprocket wheel of a multi-stage freel wheel assembly; and by means of the smooth outer surface of said flange portion a desired chain fall prevention is attained.
