Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the feeding of a band saw blade involves detecting the wear of the blade or changes in cutting resistance as a result of such wear during a cutting operation and controlling the feeding of the band saw blade in accordance with the detected wear or cutting resistance resulting from such wear.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the feeding of a bandsaw blade in a horizontal bandsaw machine so that the bandsaw blade is fed at a uniform optimum cutting rate. A control system is provided for controlling the feeding speed and the driven speed of the bandsaw blade in such a manner that the ratio of the feeding speed to the driven speed is kept constant during a cutting operation.

Abstract: An apparatus for detecting lateral deviations of a bandsaw blade has a follower which is in contact with and follows lateral movement of the blade. A sensing circuit, which is connected to the follower, generates deviation signals representing movement of the follower. A control circuit which is responsive to the deviation signals stops the bandsaw when the lateral movement of the blade has deviated beyond established limits.

Abstract: A rubber screen for a vibratory screening apparatus comprises a plurality of first parallel rope members having suitable cross sectional shapes and arranged in a particle flowing direction, each of said first rope members having a tensile member composed of a strand of filament having a high elongation at break and an organic material having flexibility and/or elasticity and covering the tensile member, and a plurality of second parallel rope members having suitable cross sectional shapes and arranged in a direction normal to the first rope members, each of the second rope members having a tensile member of a material having a low elongation at break and an organic material having flexibility and/or elasticity and covering the tensile member, each point of intersection between the first and second rope members being suitably bonded.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a bacterial preparation for ruminants which comprises taking out ruminant-stomach bacterial groups from the rumen of a ruminant grown under an excellent condition, repeatedly inoculating by the streak method and culturing the bacterial groups on a same selective medium containing an ammonium salt, gradually increasing the medium while serially passing the bacteria on the medium, allowing certain microorganisms of the bacterial groups to utilize the metabolic products of the bacteria, thereby obtaining bacteria having an improved ammonium-utilizing ability, and then using the improved bacteria as a principal ingredient of a bacterial preparation.
