  • Patent number: 8455147
Abstract: A limit switch for detecting opening/closing of a hood is connected to a controller. A power supply relay is also connected to the controller. A switching contact of the relay is located on power supply line for supplying power supply from a fuel cell. When the hood is closed, the limit switch is on and the controller maintains the switching contact in a closed state so that power supply from the fuel cell to various power-consuming components is allowed. On the other hand, when the hood is opened, the limit switch is turned off. In response to this, the controller opens the switching contact so that the power supply from the fuel cell to the various power-consuming components is shut off.

  • Publication number: 20120058404
Abstract: The moisture state of a fuel cell is determined without causing any variation in the supply state of the reactant gas to be supplied to the fuel cell. An output current control section [[71]] temporarily performs a current sweep while maintaining the amount of oxidant gas to be supplied to the fuel cell. A resistance component calculation section [[72b]] calculates the resistance component in the fuel cell by using an output current value and an output voltage value of the fuel cell being that of when the current sweep is temporarily performed. A moisture content calculation section [[72c]] calculates the moisture content in the fuel cell by using the resistance component. A moisture content determination section [[72d]] determines whether or not the moisture content is equal to or lower than a dry state threshold value. A moisture content increasing processing section [[73]] performs a moisture content increasing process when the moisture content is equal to or lower than the dry state threshold value.

  • Patent number: 8129998
Abstract: An AC impedance meter measures an AC impedance of fuel cells against at least a specific frequency. A sensor group detects at least one operating condition of the fuel cells. A detection unit compares a degradation reference value corresponding to the detected operating condition with a resistance value led from the measured AC impedance and detects performance degradation in the fuel cells based on a result of the comparison. This arrangement enables easy detection of performance degradation in the fuel cells, irrespective of a variation in operating condition of the fuel cells.
