  • Patent number: 11915504
Abstract: A home user interface (UI) system for managing digital ink is provided. The home UI system includes a plurality of state sensors capable of detecting a state in a house or a change in the state, and a plurality of home-use devices that are provided in the house or that form part of the house and that each include a handwriting sensor capable of detecting handwriting made by a person. The home UI system further includes one or more notification units that are configured to notify the person of the existence of the home-use device or a detectable region of the handwriting sensor of the home-use device. The home UI system further includes a controller which, when it is determined that a notification is necessary from a detection result of one or more of the state sensors, instructs at least one of the notification units to carry out the notification.

  • Publication number: 20230409171
Abstract: An ink annotation sharing method is carried out in a system, which includes a first terminal operable by a first user, a second terminal operable by a second user, and an ink annotation sharing system. The ink annotation includes a stroke data set indicating an annotation added to an electronic book and metadata. The metadata includes a user identifier, a book identifier, and place data indicating a place of the annotation. The method includes transmitting, by the first terminal, the ink annotation generated by an operation of the first user, to the ink annotation sharing system; identifying, by the ink annotation sharing system, the second user who is a member of a group that relates to the electronic book and that is configured by the first user based on the user and book identifier values; and supplying, by the ink annotation sharing system, the ink annotation to the second terminal.

  • Publication number: 20230221815
Abstract: A position indicator that is used with a position detection device including a position detection sensor, the position indicator including a first function module and a second function module. The first function module includes a core body that, in operation, is brought into contact with an input surface for position detection in the position detection sensor, and a position detection signal transmission circuit, in operation, that transmits a position detection signal to the position detection sensor. The second function module includes a first function circuit that, in operation, generates characteristic selection information corresponding to a characteristic of the core body or a characteristic of the input surface and transmits the characteristic selection information, or a second function circuit that, in operation, generates a stimulus corresponding to the characteristic selection information such that a user who is holding the position indicator audibly or tactilely perceives the stimulus.

Abstract: An active stylus includes at least one electrode, and an integrated circuit coupled to the at least one electrode. The integrated circuit is configured to: operate in a first mode to unilaterally transmit signals to a sensor controller from one of the at least one electrode; determine whether a pen tip of the active stylus is in contact with a sensor panel; responsive to determining that the pen tip is in contact with the sensor panel, transmit a pen pressure value of the pen tip; and responsive to determining that the pen tip is not in contact with the sensor panel, instead of transmitting the pen pressure value, detect an uplink signal transmitted from the sensor panel.

Abstract: An active stylus includes at least one electrode, and an integrated circuit coupled to the at least one electrode. The integrated circuit is configured to: operate in a first mode to unilaterally transmit signals to a sensor controller from one of the at least one electrode; attempt to detect an uplink signal from the sensor controller, using one of the at least one electrode, in a time period T1 during which the unilateral transmission of signals to the sensor controller is suspended; in response to not detecting the uplink signal, repeat operating in the first mode to unilaterally transmit signals to the sensor controller; and in response to detecting the uplink signal, stop operating in the first mode and transition to a second mode in which to transmit a downlink signal to the sensor controller, wherein the downlink signal is responsive to the uplink signal transmitted from the sensor controller.

  • Patent number: 10877580
Abstract: An active stylus includes a signal processing section. The signal processing section during operation in a first mode, while supplying a downlink signal DS1, obtained by modulating a pulse train signal with a pen pressure level P, to an electrode, determines whether it is necessary to switch to a second mode. The signal processing section during operation in the second mode, while supplying a downlink signal DS2, obtained by modulating a sine wave signal with the pen pressure level P, to the electrode, determines whether it is necessary to switch to the first mode. The signal processing section switches to operation in the second mode when determining that such is necessary, and switches to operation in the first mode when determining that such is necessary. The active stylus may be used with two position detection devices, one supporting only the first method and the other supporting only the second method.
