  • Patent number: 5060497
Abstract: A pair of dies are provided of which die faces are formed with depressions sequentially brought into engagement with a particular portion of a workpiece as the workpiece rolls between the die faces. By compressing the workpiece while driving the same to roll between the die faces, an excess metal of the workpiece is caused to flow into the depressions sequentially for thereby forming an asymmetrical part of the article.

  • Patent number: 4399727
Abstract: A drum type shear includes a pair of rotatable drums, each drum including a shearing blade. The circumferential velocity of the outer edge of a first blade is greater than the circumferential velocity of the outer edge of a second blade, such that upon rotation of the drums with a workpiece passing therebetween, after the workpiece has been initially bitten between the blades, shearing of the workpiece is completed while the outer edge of the first blade overtakes the outer edge of the second blade.

  • Patent number: 4353237
Abstract: In a method of rolling a strip between work rolls with small and large diameters, while tensioning and bending the strip, the diameter ratio of the small and large work rolls is chosen from the range of 1/1.5 to 1/10, at least one of the work rolls or of rolls in a group backing up the work rolls is driven, and the strip is rolled as it is forced through the work rolls while being bent toward or around either the small or large work roll at a strip entry-exit angle between 5.degree. and 30.degree..

  • Patent number: 4351650
Abstract: In an exhaust gas desulfurization apparatus having a cylindrical cage whose axis is substantially vertical and which is revolvable around the axis, and a packing section of an adsorbent material formed in the cage, the inside and outside of the cage being divided by casings and seal means along the periphery into at least four segmental zones respectively for adsorption, desorption, cooling, and adsorbent replacement, whereby the sulfur oxides are removed from the exhaust gas by adsorption by a gas-removing adsorbent and, with the revolution of the cage, the packing zone of the adsorbent is circulatingly shifted in position to the respective zones so that the gas-removing adsorbent is desorbed, cooled, and replaced, the improvement which comprises a packing or particulate separating section of a packing material, smaller in particle size than the gas-removing adsorbent, formed in the cage and outside of the gas-removing adsorbent packing section, so as to pass the exhaust gas through the packing section of th

  • Patent number: 4065948
Abstract: Improved roll-forming dies in a cross-rolling machine are described herein, which enable a shaped surface having any arbitrary inclination angle to be self-generated when a shaft portion of a stepped cylindrical article having a large diameter-reduction factor is formed by rolling. The improved dies are distinguished from the conventional ones in that a height of a die top portion contacting with a raw material rod with respect to a reference surface of said die is successively and continuously increased in the direction of advance of the die from a start point of a depression spreading portion of the die or its proximity up to a start point of a finishing portion or its proximity, and also in that a width of a shaping inclined surface of the roll-forming die is gradually reduced in the direction of the advance of said die from the start point of the depression spreading portion of said die or its proximity up to the start point of the finishing portion or its proximity.

  • Patent number: 3954001
Abstract: Dies for cross rolling machines for manufacturing a graduated shaft from a round bar, characterized therein that levels of dies in contact with a rolled material is formed increasingly higher from a developing point of shaping for the dies in the forward direction of said dies to a finishing point of shaping for the dies so as to elongate a minimum diameter portion or a portion of axis having large surface reduction by top portions of the dies during advance in the rolling operation of the dies.

  • Patent number: 3942348
Abstract: Cutter dies for cross rolling machines, each of which dies consisting of a shaping surface and a finishing surface, the width of the shaping surface being increasingly smaller and its height larger towards the end portions of the shaping surface, characterized in that the width of the shaping surface is further increased in the end portions of the cutter dies from a preferred position in an angle substantially less than 15.degree. from the end portions of the cutter dies.

  • Patent number: 3938375
Abstract: A process and apparatus for rollingly forming a cylindrical member having a reduced diameter portion at its intermediate portion by using a cross-rolling forming apparatus. The width in cross-section each of the dies in the rolls of the apparatus is gradually varied or decreased as the working of the member advances by providing clearance surfaces in the beveled side surfaces of the dies at an appropriate escape angle so that the surfaces in the member which have been worked by the dies are held clear of the side surfaces of the dies.
