  • Patent number: 6306024
Abstract: An orbital tool includes a housing, a motor, and an eccentric drive member rotatably driven by the motor shaft. A working member has an input portion engaging an output portion of the eccentric drive member. An annular pivot control member includes an annular central hub cooperating with the working member, an annular flange attached to the housing, and a web extending between the flange and the central hub. The pivot control member controls pivotal movement of the working member relative to the housing. The web enables the working member input portion to orbit about the drive axis as the eccentric drive member is rotated by the motor shaft.

  • Patent number: 6092260
Abstract: A hand-held blower mechanism includes an elongated housing having an inlet and outlet, and having a nozzle portion at the outlet. A motor is positioned within the housing along a central drive axis which intersects the inlet and the outlet. A centrifugal fan is positioned within the housing adjacent the inlet and is driven by the motor about the drive axis. A reservoir is removably secured to the nozzle portion with a tube in fluid communication with the outlet to facilitate spraying of fluid from the reservoir as air is blown through the outlet by the fan. Various attachments are provided.

  • Patent number: 5637034
Abstract: An oscillating tool for sanding a surface has a body (12) defining an internal cavity (14) and a motor (20) located therein The motor has a motor shaft (22) oriented in parallel with the body. A crank (24) is affixed to the motor which has a crank pin (26) projecting therefrom. A lever arm (34) is pivotably affixed to the body for rotation about a pivot axis generally perpendicular to the motor shaft. The lever arm cooperates with the crank pin to cause the lever arm to cyclically pivot back and forth. A pad support (18) is adapted to receive a work member (19). The planar pad support is affixed to the lever arm at a location spaced apart from the pivot axis and oscillated therewith. The pad support has a substantially 90 degree forward corner (110) formed by a pair or facet edges and a pair of outwardly inclined straight side edges (116, 118).

  • Patent number: 5470272
Abstract: A removable working tool assembly that can be used with a power driven tool having a drive shaft. The removable working tool assembly includes a drive member which can operably connected to the drive shaft and a support member having a tool surface. One of the drive and support members defines a male connection mechanism while the other one of the members defines a female connection mechanism such that the members can be simply connected and disconnected without the need for tools or any other fastener elements. This allows various support members to be easily changed to facilitate the use of different tool surfaces such as sanders, grinders, scrapers or the like.

  • Patent number: 5437571
Abstract: Providing an oscillating tool for sanding a surface. The tool having a body defining an internal cavity which has a motor located therein. The motor has a motor shaft oriented in parallel alignment with the body. A crank is affixed to the motor which has a crank pin projecting therefrom. A lever arm is pivotably affixed to the body for rotation about a pivot axis generally perpendicular to the motor shaft. A lever arm cooperates with the crank pin to cause the lever arm to cyclically pivot back and forth in response to rotation of a motor shaft. A pad support is adapted to receive a work member. The planar pad support is affixed to the lever arm at a location spaced apart from the pivot axis and oscillates therewith. The pad support is provided with a substantially 90.degree. forward corner formed by a pair of facet edges. A pair of outwardly inclined straight side edges extend rearwardly from the facet edges on opposite sides of the pad center line.
