  • Patent number: 6510278
Abstract: In an editing system with an editing apparatus and a recording apparatus in mutually distant locations, a reproducing apparatus is at first connected with the editing apparatus. The reproducing apparatus outputs the reproduced image signal and the positional information, indicating the position of the image signal on the recording medium, to the editing apparatus. The editing apparatus generates program information, for controlling the reproducing operation of the reproducing apparatus, utilizing the image signal and the positional information, and outputs the program information to the reproducing apparatus. Then the reproducing apparatus is connected with the recording apparatus. Based on the program information outputted by the editing apparatus, the reproducing apparatus controls the reproducing operation of the reproducing apparatus itself and also controls the recording operation of the recording apparatus.

  • Patent number: 6243529
Abstract: Information recording/reproducing apparatus such as a VTR records and reproduces information such as image information in and from a recording medium such as a magnetic tape. The apparatus has a tape feeding device which can feed the tape selectively at a first speed which is the same as the tape speed during recording and a second speed which is, for example, 1/2 the first speed. In a slow-speed reproducing mode of the apparatus, the tape is fed intermittently such that a phase in which the tape is fed at the second speed and a phase in which the tape is held still appear alternately. During the running of the tape at the low second speed, a predetermined region, e.g. a track, is traced by reproducing heads a plurality of times in an overlapping manner, so that fractions of data stored in the track are reproduced by the reproducing heads. These data fractions are reassembled within a memory based on address data contained in the reproduced data fractions, so that a video output is synthesized in the memory.

  • Patent number: 6181506
Abstract: A novel tracking control device and method is disclosed. In the tracking control device and method, digital information is reproduced from a recording medium by a reproducing head, an error contained in the reproduced digital information is detected, and the relative position between the recording medium and the reproducing head is controlled by using the detection result. In addition, an arrangement capable of realizing a high tracking capability with respect to the non-linearity of a track is also disclosed. The arrangement forms a plurality of tracking error signals indicative of positional deviations between the reproducing head and a plurality of divided areas into which each track formed on the recording medium is divided, and selectively uses the plurality of tracking error signals.

  • Patent number: 6014284
Abstract: A signal reproducing apparatus is arranged to have two reproduced signals reproduced from a plurality of tracks formed on a magnetic medium by two rotary heads arranged to rotate 180 degrees out of phase with each other and which trace positions shifted from each other, to extract, from the two reproduced signals, two signals having respective different levels used for tracking control, and to perform tracking control by using the two extracted signals to cause the heads to trace positions shifted from a predetermined track. The arrangement enables the heads to stably trace track positions shifted from positions to be traced in the normal reproduction.

  • Patent number: 6005741
Abstract: An information signal reproducing apparatus for reproducing information signals from a recording medium in which a pilot signal component having a predetermined frequency is superimposed on the information signals at every other track of a plurality of parallel tracks. A tracking error signal is formed from pilot signal crosstalk from tracks in which the pilot signal component is not superimposed. The tracking error signal is modified using the signal on which the pilot signal component is superimposed. To facilitate such a modification, no pilot signal is superimposed in a second area of the track in which the pilot signal component is superimposed in a first area thereof, and the pilot signal is superimposed in the second area of the track in which no pilot signal component is superimposed in the first area thereof.

  • Patent number: 5841599
Abstract: A reproducing apparatus is arranged to reproduce data, which are recorded in the form of predetermined blocks on a track formed on a recording medium, by causing a reproducing head to trace the track while moving the recording medium, write the reproduced data into a memory circuit, and rearrange the written data on the basis of an address assigned to each of the blocks and contained in the written data, thereby restoring the written data to the original recorded data. The memory circuit has memory capacities respectively assigned to a plurality of blocks obtained by a trace of the reproducing head. The reproducing apparatus is provided with an adjustment circuit for adjusting the remaining memory capacity of each of the plurality of blocks in accordance with the state of storage of the data stored in the memory circuit.

  • Patent number: 5644447
Abstract: An information signal recording and/or reproducing apparatus is arranged to be capable of quickly and accurately discriminating between recording and unrecording of an information signal on a tape-shaped recording medium by detecting all of signals sequentially reproduced from the tape-shaped recording medium by a plurality of rotary heads which trace the tape-shaped recording medium. The real end part of any existing record can be accurately detected by transporting the tape-shaped recording medium in a direction reverse to the direction taken in recording, according to the result of the discrimination; and by initializing a counter which counts pulses generated according to the transport of the recording medium, in response to the recording of the information signal being detected in process of transporting the tape-shaped recording medium in the reverse direction.
