  • Publication number: 20090159309
Abstract: A highly reliable flat cable is disclosed in which a short-circuit between adjacent electrodes due to whisker formation is prevented and the occurrence of contact failure between electrodes due to a foreign particle is prevented. A plasma display using this flat cable is also disclosed. The flat cable comprises a plurality of conductors and a pair of films having adhesive applied on the films so as to sandwich each of the conductors with a predetermined spacing. The conductors on the side of the flat cable or the conductors on the side of a connector electrically connected to the conductors on the side of the flat cable are formed of a lead-free material. Further, at a connecting portion of the flat cable, one of the films (2, 3) on which the adhesives (2a, 3a) are applied is removed to expose the conductors (1) to form electrodes (1a). A cover (11) is provided on the electrodes (1a) from which the film (2) has been removed.

  • Publication number: 20090109139
Abstract: A PDP device can realize both the reduction in power consumption in the sustain period and the appropriate erase operation. The PDP device has a plurality of display electrodes on a substrate surface, wherein the display electrodes include mutually adjacent X electrodes and Y electrodes. And the PDP has X, Y drive circuits that drive the X, Y electrodes. Further, in a sustain period, the X, Y electrode drive circuits apply sustain pulses having a rising dull waveform during the rise and a falling dull waveform during the fall between the X, Y electrodes a plurality of times, and after the plurality of sustain pulses have been applied, apply narrow erase pulses having a rise characteristic sharper than the rising dull waveform during the rise and also having a pulse width shorter than that of the sustain pulses between the X, Y electrodes.

  • Publication number: 20070247807
Abstract: For a flat panel display including a glass display panel and a chassis pasted together using an adhesive material, the present invention provides a low-cost and simple method of separating the panel from the chassis which are pasted together using the adhesive material. A conductor layer is formed on a surface of the panel on the adhesive material side using a thin film technique, thick film technique or the like, an adhesive interface which exists between the panel and adhesive material or between the chassis and adhesive material is directly heated and the panel is thereby easily separated from the chassis without using any special and expensive member.

  • Patent number: 6636187
Abstract: A display has a panel, and first and second electrodes. The first and second electrodes define a matrix of cells on the panel. The second electrodes, which correspond to lines of the cells, are scanned to select the cell lines one by one. The first electrodes are driven to set display data for a selected one of the cell lines. The display also has a sequence setting unit for setting sequences of scanning the second electrodes, and a sequence selection unit for selecting one of the sequences that minimizes the current and power consumption of a first-electrode driver without deteriorating the quality of the displayed images.

  • Patent number: 6295040
Abstract: In an AC-type PDP including first and second sustain electrodes extending along a line direction via a discharge slit; a discharge space; a dielectric layer coated on the first and second sustain electrodes, and an address electrode orthogonal to the first and second sustain electrodes via the dielectric layer, wherein the first and second sustain electrodes comprise first and second belt-like first and second metal electrodes thereon, respectively, where the first and second metal electrodes are narrower than the first and second transparent electrodes, respectively, wherein the first metal electrode is located on an edge apart from the discharge slit; and the second metal electrode is located on another edge near to the discharge slit. Moreover, then, a distance between the second sustain electrode and said address electrode may be smaller than a distance between said first sustain electrode and said address electrode.

  • Patent number: 6020687
Abstract: A method for driving a plasma display panel includes carrying out an erase address operation when a display on the screen is renewed. The erase address operation includes the steps of carrying out an address preparation operation for producing the wall charge in all the discharge cells through a first step of generating a discharge only in a discharge cell in an ON-state and a second step of generating a discharge only in a discharge cell in an OFF-state, and carrying out an operation for selectively erasing the wall charge in a discharge cell other than a discharge cell corresponding to data of the image to be displayed.
