  • Patent number: 5885114
Abstract: In an automatic transmission connector for interconnecting circuits provided inside and outside an automatic transmission, there are provided a plurality of terminals, a housing for receiving the terminals, and a rear holder engageable with the housing. The housing has a plurality of cavities for receiving the terminals, respectively, and the cavities are separated from one another in such a manner that the cavities communicate with one another through partially-notched wall portions. The housing has terminal passage holes into which the terminals are press-fitted, respectively. The rear holder has wall piece portions, and when the rear holder is engaged with the housing, the wall piece portions cooperate with notches, formed in the wall portions of the cavities, to separate the cavities from one another, and also retain the terminals within the respective cavities.

  • Patent number: 5820400
Abstract: An imperfect-fitting preventing connector comprising a suitable number of engagement mechanisms 4 by which male and female connectors 2 and 3 are engaged with each other in a perfect-fitting position, a suitable number of lock mechanisms 5 for locking the engagement mechanisms 4 in the perfect-fitting position, and elastic members 6 for holding the lock mechanisms 5 while urging the lock mechanisms 5 in the perfect-fitting position, wherein the engagement mechanisms 4 include an inflexible engagement projection 7 provided on an outer circumferential surface of the male connector 2, and an engagement hole 11 provided in a lock member 10 which is provided in an outer housing 9 which is axially slidable on an outer circumferential surface of an inner housing 8 of the female connector 3.

  • Patent number: 5718596
Abstract: A connector engaging structure which prevents male and female connectors from being insufficiently engaged with each other, and which positively prevents the connector housing from being damaged. The connector engaging structure 1 is designed as follows. In engaging a second connector 3 with a first connector 2, a cantilevered arm 44 formed in an outer housing, which is a part of the second connector, is locked to a locking protrusion 16 of the first connector. Next, a locking arm 25 forming an inner housing 21, which is a part of the second connector 3, is engaged with an engaging groove 15 formed in the first connector 2. With the outer housing 22 moved by the elastic force of a spring member 35, the lock arm 25 is held down so that the first and second connectors are completely engaged with each other.

  • Patent number: 5655928
Abstract: In a connector, an incomplete insertion detecting structure is formed as follows: A flexible locking piece adapted to engage with a terminal is formed in each terminal accommodating chamber. A rib insertion space, into which the flexible locking piece is retracted when bent as the terminal is inserted into the terminal accommodating chamber, is formed adjacent to the terminal accommodating chambers. A rib, which is inserted into the rib insertion space, is extended from an engaging body. A flexible arm is provided in the rib insertion space so as to engage with the rib thus inserted. A bracket insertion space is formed adjacent to the rib insertion space into which a through-bracket is inserted and into which the flexible arm is retracted while being bent as the rib is inserted into the rib insertion space. Thus, the incomplete insertion detecting structure is able to positively detect the incomplete engagement of the terminals, bus bars and/or housings.

  • Patent number: 5613871
Abstract: This invention relates to a pinch preventive connector comprising a pair of male and female connector housings for coupling electric terminals contained therein and thereby preventing a pinching which damages an electric terminal contained in the female connector housing when the male connector housing is engaged in an inclined state and thereby male connector housing hits against the electric terminal. An outer cover portion is provided on the periphery of the male connector housing in order to prevent an excessive insertion of the male connector housing from entering into the female connector housing for preventing the pinching by way of abutting a pinch preventive end of the outer cover portion against the periphery of the female connector housing when the male connector housing is inclined at the time of insertion to avoid the hitting of the male connector housing against the electric terminal contained in the female connector housing.

  • Patent number: 5551885
Abstract: A connector system requiring a small force for connecting a pair of connectors by use of a connecting operation lever in which a female connector is accommodated within an accommodating frame including flexible side walls provided with pivots and a male connector is then connected to the female connector within the frame. The connecting operation lever includes: drive plates having pivot holes engaging with pivots of the frame; introducing tapered portions disposed on ends of the inner surface of the drive plate for introducing the pivots; connection guide grooves for guiding the pivots into the pivot holes; and separation-preventing plates arranged outside the side walls of the frame to engage with the ends of the drive plates. Thus, it is possible to obtain the connector system in which the lever is easily fixed to the connector-accommodating frame and the connection of both components are secured once they are connected to each other.

  • Patent number: 5197899
Abstract: A water-proof connector including a male connector housing, and a female connector housing in which a sealing ring and a retaining member are fixed. A supporting elongate protrusion is formed on the bottom wall of the female connector housing, and an elongate slot is formed in the bottom wall of the retaining member for receiving the supporting protrusion of the female connector housing. When the retaining member is inserted into the female connector housing, the supporting protrusion directly supported the male connector housing, thus preventing relative movement of the male connector housing and the female connector housing. In another embodiment, a key is provided on an inner surface of the female connector housing and is forced into the elongate slot of the retaining member when the male and female connector housings are secured to each other. The width of the key is greater than that of the slot so that the retaining member expands outwardly against the walls of female connector housing.

  • Patent number: 5190477
Abstract: A wire harness connection structure includes a connector housing having a plurality of terminal cavities, each of which is equipped with a groove 4 for guiding a reverse inversion preventing projection 6 provided on the terminal when the terminal is inserted in the normal fashion and a tapered guide surface 5 for guiding the projection 6 when the terminal is reversely inserted. When the terminal is reversely inserted, the projection 6 is prevented from moving forwards, thus making the insertion of the terminal impossible.
