A ventilation device is associated with the air intake opening so as to draw in air from outside of the equipment through the air intake opening and a ventilation path, including a plurality of air flow paths which are independent, respectively, and arranged from an outlet of the ventilation device to the light valves continuously. A cooling system is provided to cool the light valve device, including a ventilation device, such as a centrifugal fan, for drawing in air through an air intake opening in the case of the optical equipment and an air flow path for supplying the drawn in air to the light valve device along plural paths. For this purpose, guide members are provided in the air flow path to divide and direct the air flow to individual parts of the light valve device along the plural paths.

    Abstract: A capstanless tape feed control system of a reel-drive type is capable of accurately detecting the respective working radii of a supply reel and a take-up reel and the total length of the tape, of efficiently controlling tape speed and of preventing damage to the tape. The tape feed control system calculates the working radii of the supply reel and the take-up reel and the total length of the tape while the leading end of the tape is moving toward the take-up reel, and detects tape speed on the basis of data representing the total length of the tape and the radius ratio between the supply reel and the take-up reel. The tension of the tape and the reel driving torque are detected while the tape is being fed and the working radii of the supply reel and the take-up reel are calculated on the basis of the tension and the reel driving torque.

    Abstract: As a method of increasing the storage capacity of a magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus for recording and reproducing information to and from a magnetic tape in a cartridge, there is a helical scan recording method in which the magnetic tape is diagonally wound around a drum which rotates a magnetic head. With an apparatus adapted to this method, the disposition of the cartridge and the take-up reel for taking up the magnetic tape on the same plane arises a necessity of considerably bending the magnetic tape at the drum portion and, accordingly, the magnetic tape is damaged. In order to prevent the damage of the foregoing type, the tape passage surface from the cartridge to the drum and the tape passage from the drum to the take-up reel are formed by an angle at which the direction in which the magnetic tape is moved is changed due to winding of the magnetic tape around the drum so that the magnetic tape is not bent excessively.
