  • Publication number: 20050259195
Abstract: A backlight device, which uses solid-state light emitting elements capable of emitting lights of three colors, consisting of red, green and blue, can exhibit an enhanced light utilizing efficiency, and can generate light of high uniformity in brightness and chromaticity in a display device which can obtain a display image of high brightness with a rapid response speed. The backlight device includes a reflector which has a light reflection surface, a plurality of light transmitting cylindrical light guide bodies which are mounted on the light reflection surface of the reflector in a uniformly distributed manner, and light emitting diodes capable of emitting lights of at least three colors which are mounted inside each light guide body. By performing color mixing every light guide block, it is possible to obtain a white light of high chromaticity which has a high luminous flux distribution.

  • Publication number: 20050195341
Abstract: A display device includes an optical compensation sheet stacked body mounted on a back surface of a liquid crystal display panel, and a light guide plate mounted on a back surface of the optical compensation sheet stacked body. A first air layer is interposed between the optical compensation sheet stacked body and the light emitting surface of the light guide plate, and a plurality of diffusion plates are mounted on the light incident surface of the light guide plate. A reflection sheet is arranged to face the light guide plate, and an array of an LED chips is provided on a front surface of the reflection sheet. A second air layer is interposed between the light diffusion plates and the LED array. Light from the LED chips having a plurality of colors is mixed and effective optical path length can be prolonged, whereby the least coupling loss is obtained.

  • Publication number: 20050024311
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device which favorably displays an image by eliminating irregularities of the ? characteristic for every manufactured liquid crystal panel. In the liquid crystal display device, when a power source is supplied thereto, a display control circuit installed therein reads out gradation voltage data corresponding to the liquid crystal panel stored in a ROM connected to the display control circuit and sets gradation voltages in a gradation voltage setting circuit installed therein. Further, upon receiving external control signals, the display control circuit sets gradation voltages in the gradation voltage setting circuit. When the set gradation voltages are inputted to a source driver section of the liquid crystal display device, the liquid crystal panel is driven-, and images are displayed thereby.
