  • Publication number: 20220022163
Abstract: A method and apparatus are described for a low cost machine-type-communication (LC-MTC) wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) to enhance coverage. An example method for physical broadcast channel (PBCH) enhancement includes receiving system information on an enhanced PBCH (ePBCH). The ePBCH is located in a set of radio frames which is a subset of available radio frames, where the subset includes fewer than all the available radio frames. The ePBCH is received in at least one radio frame of the set of radio frames. An example method for physical random access channel (PRACH) enhancement includes receiving configuration of legacy PRACH resources and enhanced PRACH (ePRACH) resources. The WTRU selects one of legacy PRACH resources or ePRACH resources based on a coverage capability. Another example method for PRACH enhancement includes receiving configuration of ePRACH resources. The ePRACH resources include multiple ePRACH resource types, each ePRACH resource type being associated with a coverage capability.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for supporting communication buffer status reports (BSRs) are disclosed. A wireless device may generate a first buffer status report (BSR) associated with first data for transmission to at least one wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). Also, the wireless device may generate a second BSR associated with second data for transmission to a base station. • Publication number: 20200244421
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) is configured to determine a frequency location of a reduced frequency bandwidth within a full system frequency bandwidth for an uplink transmission. The reduced frequency bandwidth is based on a received MTC physical downlink control channel. The WTRU is configured to determine a frequency location of an uplink resource in a first subframe based on at least one of a subframe number of the first subframe, a transmission repetition number associated with the first subframe, or a coverage enhancement level of the WTRU. The WTRU is configured to send a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH) transmission in the uplink resource in the first subframe in a same frequency location in both slots of the first subframe. A format of the PUCCH transmission is limited to a subset of PUCCH formats available for a WTRU operating in the full system frequency bandwidth.

  • Patent number: 10554365
Abstract: Embodiments described herein may include methods, systems, and apparatuses that support transmissions in wireless transmit and receive units (WTRUs) having reduced capabilities. Uplink transmissions and multimedia broadcast multicast service (MBMS) may be supported in WTRUs operating on a reduced bandwidth within an overall system bandwidth by receiving an uplink (UL) resource allocation within the reduced bandwidth, and sending a transmission over the UL resource allocation.
