    Abstract: In a periphery monitoring apparatus, a display processing unit displays, in a display apparatus that is provided in a vehicle, a plurality of captured images that are acquired by a plurality of cameras provided in a plurality of differing positions in the vehicle and have overlapping portions in which portions of imaging areas overlap each other, such that the overlapping portions remain. A determining unit determines whether a predetermined target object to be detected is present in each of the plurality of captured images. The display processing unit includes an enlargement processing unit that enlarges at least one captured image in which the target object is determined to be present, among the plurality of captured images, and displays the captured image in the display apparatus when the determining unit determines that the target object is present in at least one of the plurality of captured images.

    Abstract: A driving assistance device converts an image captured by an in-vehicle camera configured to image the periphery of a vehicle into an image viewed from a virtual viewpoint. The driving assistance device combines, as a higher-level layer, a vehicle image indicating the position and shape of the vehicle with a converted target image. The driving assistance device adjusts the opacity of the vehicle image such that the target image as a lower-level layer is visible at a superimposed portion of the vehicle image and the target image. At this point, the opacity of the vehicle image is variably set according to at least one of an own vehicle surrounding condition or a vehicle running condition. The driving assistance device outputs, as a driving assistance image, the target image combined with the adjusted vehicle image.

The image processing portion subjects an original image to an image correction including a coordinate transformation by use of a parameter, causing a ratio of three segment areas of the original image to become close to a predetermined target ratio, and generates a virtual coordinate transformed image based on the original image. An end edge position of the host vehicle and a horizontal line position of the host vehicle are calculated from the parameter, and the original image is vertically segmented at the end edge position and the horizontal line position into the three segment areas. The display portion displays an image screen on a display area in a vehicle compartment.

The apparatus sets multiple detection lines along a horizontal axis of an image captured by a camera, and detects a brightness change of a pixel along the detection lines. With reference to the brightness change detected along the detection line and a parameter for determining whether such brightness change is caused by the moving object, the apparatus determines the presence of the moving object. In addition, the apparatus changes a determination condition for determining the moving object such that as the number of detection lines along which the brightness change is detected decreases, the harder it is to satisfy the determination condition for determining that the moving object is present.
