Abstract: A precision electrostatic lens system is formed from lens electrodes having high precision inner bores by aligning said bores on a ceramic rod, inserting segmented glass spacers between adjacent electrodes, and brazing the combination together to provide a monolithic structure capable of maintaining accurate tolerances.

Abstract: An electrode and a recording head made of a plurality of electrodes. Each electrode has a mounting portion and a flexible portion having a resilient tongue and an arm provided with a recording tip on its end, all formed by a thin unitary metal plate. The insulated and assembled electrodes together constitute the recording head. The electrodes are aligned by means of two members which project through holes in the mounting portions of the electrodes, and recesses aligned in an edge of each electrode form a groove for an electrical connection plate.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for effecting character segmentation in a cursive script handwriting analysis system which comprises obtaining the continuous x and y coordinates and the x and y velocities of a writing instrument forming said cursive character. Continuously averaging the x displacement associated with all the x and y extremal points of a handwritten character where the x or the y velocity equals zero. Successively examining the x displacement for each x-extremal and determining if the x displacement of said extremal exceeds a predetermined threshold value relative to the average x displacement of the current character and if so indicating that said new extremal is located in the next character and that a segmentation mark should be placed at a predetermined distance along the ligature between the just analyzed extremal and the previously analyzed extremal.

Abstract: A recording head for a recording device utilizing electrosensitive paper, composed of a row of adjacently arranged electrode carriers, each of which consists of a flat body in which a chamber is recessed, the said chamber comprising a connection slot and a guide groove for a wire-shaped electrode. One principal surface of the body insulates and the other principal surface is at least partly conductive.
