According to some embodiments, a computer-implemented method includes receiving a request at a cloud provider network to perform a defect detection on a media player application, capturing an image of a user interaction with a user interface of the media player application, determining, by the cloud provider network, one or more components of the user interface from pixels of the image, detecting, by the cloud provider network, a defect in the user interface from the one or more components without creating a reference image, and generating, by the cloud provider network, an output based at least in part on the defect.
