  • Patent number: 10176536
Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for locating, filtering, ranking and then providing a selection of potential “meet-up” venue(s) and time(s) recommendations to a group of users of a device having an interface and a display (e.g., a smart phone or a tablet) based on the geographic area delineated by a user and the user's contacts who are invited to the “meet-up”. The methods and systems calculate, filter and rank the most convenient “meet-up” venue and time based on the current location of group members, taking into account a plurality of factors, such as time, distance, schedule, group member's interests, availability, and the like. The methods and systems then provide a selection of the top ranking “meet-up” venues to the group members. Thereafter, the group members vote for the most suitable location among the ranked “meet-up” venues.

  • Patent number: 9699284
Abstract: There is presented a method that includes (a) receiving, from a server, data that indicates an intensity of interactions between a user and each of a first contact of the user and a second contact of the user, where the interactions include (i) communications conducted by way of a first device of the user, and (ii) communications conducted by way of a second device of the user, (b) calculating a first score for the first contact and a second score for the second contact, based on the intensity of interactions, (c) determining a first size for a first image that represents the first contact based on the first score, and a second size for a second image that represents the second contact based on the second score, and (d) presenting on a display, the first image having the first size and the second image having the second size.

  • Publication number: 20160253628
Abstract: There is provided a method for presenting on a communication device of a user, multi-channel presence information concerning a contact of the user. The method includes (a) obtaining a first score that indicates an availability of the contact to accept a communication via a first channel of communication, and a second score that indicates an availability of the contact to accept a communication via a second channel of communication, (b) determining, based on the first score and the second score, a preference between the first channel and the second channel, and (c) presenting the preference on the communication device of the user. There is also provided a system that performs the method, and a storage device that contains instructions that cause a processor to perform the method.

  • Patent number: 9326033
Abstract: A movie browsing system may use a combination of long term and session based preferences to help a user browse movies using microcategories. The user preferences may be stored as microcategory weights, where the session based weights may change during a session as the system learns the types of movies a user wishes to see at that time. The long term microcategory weights may change at a slower rate than the session weights. The system may present a diverse set of microcategories to a user in an effort to diverge the search and learn the user's current interest, and may refine the weights as the user browses to converge to a desired movie. A user interface may operate on a television screen with a minimum of user input controls to navigate the browsing system while still collecting user preferences.

  • Patent number: 8135739
Abstract: Information is automatically located which is relevant to source content that a user is viewing on a user interface without requiring the user to perform an additional search or navigate links of the source content. The source content can be, e.g., a web page or a document from a word processing or email application. The relevant information can include images, videos, web pages, maps or other location-based information, people-based information and special services which aggregate different types of information. Related content is located by analyzing textual content, user behavior and connectivity relative to the source. The related content is scored for similarity to the source. Content which is sufficiently similar but not too similar is selected. Similar related content is grouped to select representative results. The selected content is filtering in multiple stages based on attribute priorities to avoid unnecessary processing of content which is filtered out an early stage.

  • Publication number: 20090313536
Abstract: A requested content page is provided with additional relevant content that is dynamically generated. A page originally requested by a browser application is generated and examined to determine key words, address information, and other information for which relevant content may be retrieved. The other information may not be part of the original page content, but it can be the relation between the content page and other pages. The relevant content is determined based on the results of the content page examination. After retrieving the relevant content, the retrieved content is embedded into the requested content page and provided to the requesting user. The retrieved relevant content may be provided with the requested content page in a designated portion within the requested content page, near related content in the page, and/or displayed in response to user input as a pop-up window or in a preview pane.
