  • Patent number: 7142542
Abstract: During reception of a higher-layer packet, segmented into lower-layer frames, a receiver will appropriately determine if a lower-layer frame was correctly received. If a lower-layer frame is not correctly received, and the maximum number of NAKs have been sent, the lower-layer frame is categorized as aborted. Once a frame has been categorized as aborted, the receiver determines an RLP frame corresponding to the higher layer packet boundary, sets V(N) to a next missing link-layer frame after a higher-layer packet boundary and pushes frames up to V(N) to the higher layer.

  • Patent number: 6947436
Abstract: An apparatus and method that optimizes the data rate for forward link data transmissions in a spread-spectrum communications system 106 is provided. The spread-spectrum communications system 106 comprises a wireless infrastructure 103, at least one wireless mobile receiving device 105, and an radio frequency (RF) forward link 104 between the wireless infrastructure 103 and the wireless mobile receiving device 105. The data rate of the RF forward link 104 is optimized in the wireless infrastructure 103 by estimating or measuring the bottleneck link speed of the data transmission and adjusting the data rate for the RE forward link 104 according to several embodiments of a data rate optimization algorithm. The algorithm creates an optimum range for the data rate of the RF wireless link 104 which maximizes system capacity and reduces transmission delays to the wireless mobile receiving device 105.

  • Publication number: 20030091068
Abstract: During reception of a higher-layer packet (301), segmented into lower-layer frames (302), a receiver (400) will appropriately determine if a lower-layer frame was correctly received (503). If a lower-layer frame is not correctly received, and the maximum number of NAKs have been sent, the lower-layer frame is categorized as aborted. Once a frame has been categorized as aborted, the receiver will send no more NAKs for a predetermined number of lower-layer frames (302). In particular, those lower-layer frames (302) associated with the higher-layer packet will fail to have NAKs sent even if they are improperly received.

  • Patent number: 5935213
Abstract: A system and method of generating flow control information for a switching node for a digital network is disclosed. The network includes a source device and a destination device interconnected by the switching node. The source device generates cells for transmission at a selected transmission rate to the destination device over a path through the switching node to transmit data in a downstream direction from the source device to the destination device. The source device further periodically generates resource management cells for transmission to the destination device over the path in the downstream direction, and the destination device returns the resource management cells over the path in upstream direction through the switching node to the source device.
