A water swellable polycarboxylated polymer is dissolved in a solution/suspension of a pesticide formulation in a substantially non-aqueous liquid carrier. The composition, upon topical application, dries to a surface adherent polymer matrix film that swells responsive to contact with water/ambient humidity to effect prolonged pesticidal efficacy.
