  • Publication number: 20030046978
Abstract: A device for ascertaining a particle concentration in an exhaust gas flow of a combustion device, particularly a diesel combustion device, is provided, which device ascertains very small particle concentrations in the exhaust gas of combustion devices, accompanied by high time resolution. At least one measuring unit is provided for measuring a concentration of an oxidizing agent in the exhaust gas flow, having at least one measuring element sensitive to the oxidizing agent.

  • Publication number: 20030031901
Abstract: A fuel cell system including at least two reformer units for catalytic decomposing a starting material stream into at least one intermediate product and one hydrogen-rich fuel stream of a fuel cell unit, in which each reformer unit converts the starting material stream into an end product stream in at least one first operating phase and into the intermediate product in a second operating phase using an auxiliary material stream. The fuel cell system provides its continuous generation of a hydrogen-rich fuel stream from hydrocarbons for mobile and/or stationary fuel cell applications using at least one heat exchanger unit to exchange heat between the reformer units.

  • Publication number: 20020119079
Abstract: Chemical microreators for chemical systhesis and their methods of manufacture are known, but have disadvantages such as extremely high manufacturing costs or poor flexibility for adaptation to various cases of application. These disadvantages are avoided by means of the microreators and manufacturing methods according to the invention. The microreators are characterized in that the reactors contain fluid ducts in at least one plane as well as feed and return lines for fluids, wherein the fluid ducts are defined by side walls of metal opposing each other and further side walls of metal or plastic extending between said side walls, and in which the planes are connected together and/or with a closure segment closing open fluid ducts by means of appropriate solder or adhesive layers. The manufacturing method is characterized by process sequences in which the individual reactor planes produced by means of electrolytic methods, are connected together by soldering or gluing.

  • Publication number: 20020086197
Abstract: The invention is directed to a fuel cell wherein the short-term reduction of the fuel cell power during increased power requirements on the system is reduced or entirely prevented as may be possible. For this purpose, an internal fuel store is provided within the cell housing.

  • Publication number: 20020025464
Abstract: A fuel cell system has a fuel cell unit (1) and a fuel preparation unit. A measuring unit (7, 8) is provided for measuring at least a first operating parameter of the fuel cell unit (1). The fuel cell system makes possible an almost complete monitoring of the internal operating state of the fuel cell unit (1). The number of utilized sensors (7, 8) is reduced and thereby also the complexity of the system. This is achieved in that an evaluation unit (7, 8, 9) is provided for evaluating a time-dependent change of the first operating parameter of the fuel cell unit (1) in dependence upon a known time-dependent change of at least a second operating parameter of the fuel cell system.

  • Publication number: 20020022163
Abstract: A fuel cell system has a reformer unit (1) for generating a reformate which is provided as a fuel for a fuel cell unit (4). The fuel cell system includes a sensor (5, 6, 7) for monitoring the quality of the reformate and a valve (9, 10) which can be controlled in dependence upon the sensor. Compared to conventional systems, the valve can react very rapidly to disturbances in the preparation of the reformate and can especially prevent that disturbances lead to damage of the fuel cell unit (4) and the electrical output power of the fuel cell unit continues to be controllable. This is achieved in that at least one storage unit (11) is provided for feeding fuel to the fuel cell unit (4) in dependence upon the quality of the reformate.
