  • Patent number: 7843098
Abstract: A method for operating an electromotive drive of a textile machine, comprising a contactlessly mounted rotor and catch bearings. The rotor rests on one catch bearing prior to initial operation, and is spaced therefrom by an air gap during stationary operation. A control device allows the rotor to be held in a force-free floating state during stationary operation. The method executes the following steps: (a) inputting an output signal from the control device for maintaining the force-free floating state during operation; (b) calculating the air gap by evaluating the output signal; (c) comparing the calculated value with predetermined limit values; and (d) deactuating the drive when the limit values are passed. The control device comprises a position sensor with at least one sensor coil, at least one actuator coil, a position controller and an integrator, at which the output signal is obtained to determine the air gap.

  • Publication number: 20090230897
Abstract: An electric motor for a textile machine can be operated as a generator if the supply voltage fails. The electric motor comprises a rotor configured as the motor armature and a motor phase control circuit comprising a plurality of semiconductor components wherein the electric motor can be short-circuited if a predeterminable limit value is passed during generator operation. The motor circuit causes the short-circuiting on passing the limit value by activating one or more of the semiconductor components. The multi-phase electric motor is used as the single drive of a rotor of the textile machine. wherein the semiconductor components of the phase control bridge. on passing a predeterminable limit value, contactlessly short-circuit the electric motor to brake the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 7111446
Abstract: An open-end spinning unit, which comprises a spinning rotor 1 that rotates during the spinning operation at a high rotational speed in a closed rotor housing 2. The spinning rotor is rotated by an individual electric motor drive 18 and supported in a smoothly running bearing assembly. When the drive is disconnected and the rotor housing is properly closed by a cover element 8, the spinning rotor is biased and rotated by an airflow resulting from a vacuum prevailing in the rotor housing and the motor drive operates as a generator. At least one of the electric quantities Pv, Gv which develop during the generator operation of the drive 18 is monitored, and upon exceeding a threshold value which can only be attained when the cover element is properly closed, a signal S is generated and processed in a control unit 30 to cause the cover element 8 on the rotor housing 2 to be locked, and thereafter the drive 18 is connected to its electrical supply to rotate the rotor at high speed.

  • Patent number: 6720695
Abstract: A rotor spinning device with a contactless passive radial bearing for the spinning rotor. A damping device exerts magnetic forces on the rotor shaft (9) of the spinning rotor by means of operating elements (11, 12), and in this manner damps radially directed oscillations of the spinning rotor. The stationary operating elements (11, 12), which are embodied as magnetic elements, act directly on a magnetic element (8), which is fixedly connected with the rotor shaft (9), wherein the magnetic element (8) is an operative element of the passive bearing of the spinning rotor. A rapid, effective damping of the oscillations is possible without large expenditures.

  • Patent number: 6590307
Abstract: A device for the attitude control of a rapidly rotating rotor, especially a spinning rotor, supported in a contactless manner. The device comprises a sensor device for the continuous generation of rotor attitude signals and a control device (6) that processes the rotor attitude signals and continuously outputs a correcting variable to an actuating device that influences the rotor attitude. The control device (6) is set up in such that the rise of the waveform of a resultant signal from which the correcting variable is derived is limited to a maximum amount and, upon the occurrence of higher oscillation frequencies of the rotor attitude signals, the oscillation amplitudes of the resultant signal for the actuating device can at the same time be reduced with a small phase error. The device makes it possible to achieve low energy consumption, an expanded controllability and greater operational safety in a simple manner.
