Abstract: In a method and an apparatus for operating a display device, the display of which is generated and continuously renewed by successively received frames of image data which define one or several pixels, the image data for a frame is provided by a host computer via a serial bus. The data extracted from the data received via the serial bus are extracted at an electronic assembly connected between the host computer and the display device. The image data extracted is stored in an image memory of the electronic assembly and is displayed while controlling the electronic assembly. These steps are repeated for each of the frames.
