    Abstract: A flexible pressure tube includes a pressure tube cladding defining an axis and having an interior space for flow of a pressurized medium. The pressure tube cladding is constructed in the form of a homogeneous layer which is suitable to transmit data encoded in light waves in a direction of the axis, wherein the homogeneous layer is made of a flexible optical waveguide material. The pressure tube may be part of an apparatus for conducting pressurized medium and transmission of data, which apparatus includes a coupling assembly having a coupling unit for connecting one axial end of the flexible pressure tube to a pressurized-medium-operated structure, and another coupling unit for connecting the other axial end of the flexible pressure tube to a pressurized-medium-operated structure. The piston has a circular cross section and is connected at one end to a piston rod in coaxial relationship. In order to allow selective use of the pressure fluid cylinder with or without anti-rotation feature, an annular adapter is placed between the piston and the tube and has a circular inner surface area to complement a circular outer surface area of the piston so as to allow a relative rotation between the piston and the adapter. The adapter has a non-circular outer surface area to complement the non-circular inner surface area of the tube. Through insertion of a fastener in aligned boreholes of the adapter and the piston, the adapter and the piston are prevented from rotating relative to one another.

    Abstract: A seal for a work cylinder operated with pressure fluid, through which cylinder an axially displaceable coupling element connected with the work cylinder, particularly a pull means, is extended in a fluid-tight manner from the inside of the cylinder. To obtain a better sealing of the inside of the cylinder under all possible operating conditions, particularly when using coupling elements developed as pull means of a cross-sectional shape other than circular, the seal is comprised of a single cup-shaped piece, the bottom surface of the seal being provided with a cuff which tapers conically in axial direction towards the cup-shaped inside of the seal. The cuff is provided with a sealing opening which permits the passage of the coupling element therethrough. The seal is provided with a sealing ring on the outer periphery in the region of the open end.

    Abstract: A working cylinder which operates without a piston rod, comprising a cylinder tube, a piston which is displaceable therein and is provided with a pulling means, and a force transmission element which is connected with the pulling means and guided in axial displacement on the cylinder tube. In order to minimize the mounting work for the external attachment of the pulling means and at the same time increase the dependability of operation, the pulling means (1) is provided on the ends thereof connected to the force transmission element (2) with clamping pieces (3) which are provided with a toothed surface (5) on at least one outer side (4) and the force transmission element (2) is provided with a correspondingly toothed surface (6) against which the side (4) of the corresponding clamping piece (3) having the toothed surface (5) can be pressed via a pressing element (7). The corresponding toothed surface of the force transmission element (2) is longer than the clamping pieces (3) to allow for adjustment.

    Abstract: A device is disclosed for the selective clamping of an axially moveable or rotatable cylindrical shaft. The device disclosed may be either of a spring actuated-pressure release or a pressure actuated spring release embodiment. A clamping sleeve is located coaxially surrounding the cylindrical shaft to be immobilized. The clamping sleeve is separated into clamping elements at one end by longitudinal slots in the generally cylindrical sleeve. An actuating element is also arranged coaxially to the cylindrical body and the clamping sleeve and is mounted exterior to the clamping sleeve. The clamping elements are located radially inwardly from the actuating element and are separated therefrom by a series of bearings. The bearings engage the actuating element and the clamping elements through matched sets of inclined ramp elements. Each clamping element is provided with a set of bearings and ramp elements.

    Abstract: A compact fluid actuated working cylinder is disclosed having a cam driven by a piston via a flexible tension member. At the ends of the cylinder housing there are deflection pulleys for providing continuous tension for the tension member. The pulleys are each mounted on pulley supports which extend from secondary bores in the main cylinder housing. The pulley supports are spring loaded and urge the two pulleys away from the cylinder housing and each other. The pulley supports are preferably rectangular in cross-section to protect against torsion.
