  • Patent number: 6069282
Abstract: A process for the preparation of vinyl, alkynyl or aryl aldehydes or vinyl, alkynyl or aryl ketones by reaction of vinyl-, alkynyl- or aryl- methanols with the aid of a mediator and an oxidant, wherein the mediator is selected from the group of the aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, heterocyclic or aromatic NO or NOH containing compounds.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 21, 1998

  • Patent number: 5783056
Abstract: In the case of the electrochemical enzyme biosensor comprising noble metal electrodes, an electrochemical oxidation of pyridine nucleotides takes place, in particular of NADH. The noble metal electrodes have a microtexture rich in surface pores and having catalytic properties, as a result of which the overpotential required for electrochemical oxidation of the pyridine nucleotides is reduced. Owing to these microtextures, the surface area of an electrode is from 3 to 10 times larger than its geometric surface area.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 20, 1995
Date of Patent: July 21, 1998
    Assignee: Bayer Corporation
Inventors: Norbert Hampp, Anton Silber, Christoph Brauchle
  • Patent number: 5670239
Abstract: A composition for the delocalized marking of articles, which makes the forging or improper use or exploitation of these articles difficult. It includes chemical elements having a K.sub..alpha. line of from 3.69 keV to 76.315 keV in defined distributions, the physical properties of these substances and/or their elemental and/or quantitative composition serving as delocalized information which cannot be discerned with the naked eye.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 27, 1995
Date of Patent: September 23, 1997
Assignee: Consortium fur Elektrochemische Industrie GmbH
    Inventor: Norbert Hampp
  • Patent number: 5374492
Abstract: Purple membrane preparations having an increased holographic diffraction efficiency. The purple membrane preparations have a diffraction efficiency of less than 5 seconds and a resolution of greater than 1,500 lines/mm. The purple membrane preparations are obtainable by adjusting a purple membrane suspension having a photocycle time of at least 10 ms to a pH of between 6 and 11 by means of a buffer, adding from 1% to 10% by weight of a proton donor to this purple membrane suspension, and drying the resultant suspension down to a water content of from 1% to 30% by weight.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 11, 1992
Date of Patent: December 20, 1994
Assignee: Consortium fur elektrochemische Industrie GmbH

  • Patent number: 5223355
Abstract: In processes of holography using bacteriorhodopsin-based recording media, it is essential to design the signal-to-noise ratio to be as favorable as possible. This is achieved by recording the hologram using circularly polarized light and reconstructing the hologram by using linearly polarized light, specific beam components being selected as a function of polarization in the beam path of the reconstructed hologram. The process is suitable both for purely holographic applications and also for other processes which include one or more intermediate or partial steps involving holography.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 11, 1991
Date of Patent: June 29, 1993
Assignee: Consortium fur elektrochemische Industrie GmbH
Inventors: Norbert Hampp, Ralph Thoma, Dieter Oesterhelt, Christoph Brauchle
  • Patent number: 5039390
Abstract: A chemically sensitive transducer for selectively determining a chemical property of a fluid and providing a measurement signal to an amplifying circuit. The transducer has a measuring electrode coupled to the amplifying circuit and provides a measurement signal to the amplifying circuit. A membrance covers the measuring electrode, this membrane being sensitive to a specified chemical property. A carrier plate, with first and second sides, has the measuring electrode arranged on its first side and the amplifying circuit on its second side. The carrier plate has a conductor extending between the first and second sides which electrically couples the measuring electrode and the amplifying circuit.
