  • Patent number: 4835829
Abstract: A hub assembly comprising a hub member (10), a flange (4) for wheel attachment, a double row bearing (2), and a constant velocity ratio universal joint (3), wherein the bearing has at least one inner bearing ring (13, 14) which is a separate component received on the hub member, and a connection between the hub member and a further part of the assembly is established by a welding and upsetting operation, and the inner bearing ring is engaged to hold it in position and to set the bearing as a result of such welding and upsetting operation. The welded and upset connection may be provided between the hub member and an outer member (15) of the constant velocity ratio universal joint, or between the hub member and flange. A weld bead formed by the welding and upsetting operation may engage the inner bearing ring either directly or indirectly, or a projection extending from the part welded to the hub member may engage the inner bearing ring.

  • Patent number: 4797018
Abstract: A ribbon cassette with a memory makes it possible to provide a relatively exact determination of either the amount of ribbon remaining or the end of the ribbon with small mechanical outlay in an electronically controlled office machine or typewriter. A memory which contains external contacts and is capable of counting and storing values is provided from which base units can be subtracted by the control unit of the machine depending on the amount of ribbon advanced. The novel ribbon cassette makes it possible to dependably determine and display either the amount of ribbon remaining or the end of the ribbon.

  • Patent number: 4707158
Abstract: A tractor feed for paper webs with margin perforation for use in printers of data processing systems in which endless bands support feed pins engagable with said perforations to effect paper transport toward, around and away from a platen. Upper and lower runs of the endless band and feed pins supported thereby are selectively adjustably movable into and out of paper guide slots to facilitate introduction and loading of the paper web. The band is movable by movable upper and lower guide rails which are controlled by an adjusting mechanism and by springs acting to spread said guide rails apart.

  • Patent number: 4688954
Abstract: A single pass ink ribbon cassette for typewriters or like machines is designed to track ribbon extending between a supply and take-up spool in such a manner that text contained on used ribbon beyond a point of impression is rendered illegible. Used ribbon is rendered illegible in that upon its entry into the cassette, it is guided around a turn around roller for passage past the point of impression a second time before re-entry again into the cassette, and conducted via guide means for take-up by a driven take-up spool. Due to the fact that the ink ribbon is guided past the point of impression a second time, subsequent impressions on the used ribbon render the text from the used ribbon unreadable. In addition, in the zone of the turn around roller a scraper is provided for scraping the residual ink particles off the used ribbon before it is guided past the point of impression the second time.

  • Patent number: 4605325
Abstract: A ribbon cassette incorporates a locking mechanism which acts to prevent both rotational spool movement and axial displacement or "treeing" of the coils of ribbon wound on a single flange supply spool prior to mounting for use in a typewriter. The locking mechanism is automatically released when the cassette is mounted for use in a typewriter or like machine.
