  • Publication number: 20100086106
Abstract: According to the invention, an information output, e.g. a voice output, video information output, or a simultaneous output of video and audio information, which is to be transmitted via a packet-oriented network, is generation by means of pre-coded information output components. Said pre-coded information output components are present in a memory system and are retrieved as part of the processing of a request for the output of information by an information output system. Similarly, generation rules for the information output can be stored in the memory system and accessed by the information output system in order to generate the information output. According to one embodiment, information output components or generation rules are created in an information output configuration system and are subsequently made available in the memory system. The invention optimizes the use of resources for information-output services.

  • Patent number: 7680103
Abstract: In one aspect, a method for billing for a connection routed via a packet network is provided. According to the method, billing is started the when the connection is established between a plurality of subscriber terminals. Information packets are transmitting according to a quality standard by at least one of the terminals. The information packets are routed in the network via a central device controlling a quality. • Publication number: 20090297129
Abstract: Certain exemplary embodiments relate to a device and/or an associated method in which a recorded television or radio program can be played back from a recording of said program without additional programs, such as commercial breaks. A current program can be resumed once the recording has been played back. Processed program segments can be retrieved while repeated segments can be tuned out during playback. The current program can be resumed more quickly if processed program segments are retrieved during playback.

  • Publication number: 20090282432
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus and a method for securely distributing contents in a telecommunication network, where an inventory management unit (1) manages terminals (3) with at least one functional unit (4) on the basis of use rights metadata (NMD) associated with an encrypted content (VN) and a terminal actuation unit (2) actuates the terminals (3) as appropriate. In this case, the inventory management unit (1) compares the use rights metadata (NMD) with a functional unit inventory list, the terminal actuation unit (2) selectively actuating the respective terminal for a respective encrypted content if the comparison ascertains a functional unit (4) which is not enabled for the content.

  • Patent number: 7564807
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for controlling recorded announcements and interactive voice responses for calls made outside an exchange, using a packet network (PN), by means of peripheral equipment (LTG) of a switching system, which does not provide any HW-oriented tasks for its interface system controlled by switching technology, whereby peripheral equipment (LTG) with virtual ports is defined. The method is characterised in that resources for the recorded announcement and interactive voice response function are provided by an external device, that the peripheral equipment is provided with virtual recorded announcement and interactive voice response ports, that an interface exists between the peripheral equipment and the external device and that the external resources can be used in relation to a specific port by the switching system.

  • Patent number: 7420928
Abstract: The invention relates to the testing of transmission quality of transmission links in a packet network. According to the invention, the director and responder functionality are made available in a resource server of the packet network. In order to perform a quality test, a connection is set up between the resource server and at least one gateway and potentially between two gateways by a packet-oriented switching center. Test signals are transmitted by the resource server and, after being mirrored at one or two gateways, are transmitted back to the resource server. The broadcast test signals are evaluated for transmission-related reductions in quality, e.g. distortion and attenuation, and the results of this evaluation for different broadcast links are combined in order to obtain information concerning the transmission quality of individual partial links. The invention is advantageous in that it makes complicated and expensive test functions available on centralized resource servers.

  • Patent number: 7386117
Abstract: The invention relates to the representation, independent of access type, of ISDN accesses (PRA, BRA) in the central core (cVst) of a packet-oriented exchange (P-Vst). By adapting the signaling information transmitted by ISDN accesses in a peripheral unit (PE) it is possible to handle different ISDN access types as a uniform access type in the central core (cVst) of the packet-oriented exchange (P-Vst). The adaptation can be performed for example with the aid of a conversion table for the user data references and call references contained in signaling messages. The invention has the advantage of providing a simple, low-cost, low-overhead representation of ISDN data in the central core of the packet-oriented exchange (P-Vst). Changes such as e.g. a concentration of the user data channels can be carried out easily and flexibly by the network management (NetMg).

  • Patent number: 7272154
Abstract: Commercially available platforms with performance characteristics are linked with network systems via standardized interfaces. Such a link, however, requires major interventions in the structure of said system. The inventive method reduces the necessary steps by means of a message-based concentration on the network bandwidth or a multiple thereof and a line-based concentration on the bandwidth of one of the peripherals during communication, thereby scheduling at least one interface of the allocated control device.

  • Patent number: 7180992
Abstract: The invention provides assistance, by providing a control interface between a recognition or announcement/dialog function with voice recognition functionality and a conference management function, via which the conference can be controlled and monitored in an automated manner. The recognition or announcement/dialog function switches to the individual conferences in succession under the control of the conference management function, monitors the combined stream of all voice data emitted by the conferees in an interim check. If disruptive data is detected, the conference management function associates the disruptive data with the conferee emitting the data. The recognition or announcement/dialog function to the individual participants in the conference is switched in succession. If the conferee emitting the disruptive data is detected in this process and this conferee is identified as a disruptive party as a result, the conferee is automatically switched to silent or removed entirely from the conference.

  • Patent number: 7058045
Abstract: A method and a network element for processing signaling data and for controlling connections of subscribers of a packet-switching communications network. A network element actuates a concentrator interface using at least one connecting unit and makes resources available to it. Signaling data for performing subscriber signaling of a subscriber of the packet-switching communications network is transmitted between at least one packet control unit and the connecting unit via a message control system of the network element. The packet control unit converts the signaling data of the network element into signaling packets of the packet-switching communications network and vice versa. The signaling packets are transmitted between the network element and the subscriber.

  • Patent number: 6985577
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for circuit switching connections, which are led outside a switching center, with a plurality of peripheral devices that can be addressed under a common HW address by the message distribution system of the switching center. According to the invention, each of the peripheral devices comprises its own logical address, and a splitting up of the peripheral devices into real peripheral devices, which represent the previously mentioned HW address, and into virtual peripheral devices is given. The invention is characterized in that the logical addresses of the peripheral devices, which are used exclusively for controlling connections led outside of the switching center, are located in areas of the switching network that are not expanded into hardware, whereby a virtual switching network unit is defined, and a splitting up of the switching network into real and virtual switching network units is carried out.

  • Patent number: 6883039
Abstract: The method enables optimization of the processing of connections conducted outside a switching center in peripheral devices of a switching system, which provide no HW-orientated tasks on their peripheral devices assigned in switching terms. The operating system of the peripheral device and the security engineering running thereon permit quasi-parallel processing of a multiplicity of virtual peripheral devices. It is thereby possible to address every virtual peripheral device with a dedicated logic address via the message interface of the physically assigned peripheral device.
