  • Patent number: 4454153
Abstract: The zinc salt of the hydrolyzed tricarboxylic acid from Diels-Alder adducts or ene-adducts of maleic anhydride to undecylenic acid, preferably in a molar ratio of from 0.8 to 1.2, are described as skin-compatible bactericides and fungicides. They are preferably used in cosmetic preparations. They are more active and less toxic than the substances previously known and used for said purposes.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 21, 1982
Date of Patent: June 12, 1984
    Assignee: Grillo-Werke Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Norbert Lowicki, Natvarlal B. Desai
  • Patent number: 4376789
Abstract: Disclosed are novel polyhydric alcohol partial esters of polycarboxylic acids from Diels-Alder adducts of maleic anhydride and a straight chain unsaturated carboxylic acid having ten to twenty-five carbon atoms. The partial esters can be subsequently sulfated. The polyhydric alcohol can be a mono- or disaccharide such as sucrose or mannose. The partial esters are surfactants which are dermatologially acceptable and useful in personal products and skin-care products.

Inventors: Norbert Lowicki, Natvarlal B. Desai
  • Patent number: 4172123
Abstract: Compositions and processes comprising certain metal salts of an unsaturated hydroxy carboxylic acid having 17-21 carbon atoms are disclosed as the active ingredient in various deodorants. Also described are various synergistic agents, anti-oxidants and reinforcing agents which are useful therewith.

  • Patent number: 4087371
Abstract: Method of preventing deposits of dissolved inorganic salts on heated surfaces, such as tubular heat exchangers, is carried out by adding a deposit-preventing agent to the water before contact with the heated surfaces. Compounds complexing with cations are combined with anionic substances which are capable of salt formation with complex bound cations to form additive compositions which are added to the water in the zone near the walls of vessels or tubular heat exchangers subject to deposit incrustation.
