  • Patent number: 7851082
Abstract: An accumulator, particularly a lead accumulator, has a housing, which encloses multiple cells, and a block cover, which terminates the housing, including a bottom cover (1) and a top cover (2), between which a gas chamber for acid separation is implemented, which is divided into multiple cavities (3-8), corresponding to the number of cells, and which has at least one vent opening, a fill opening (9-14) being provided for each cell in the bottom cover (1). In order to improve an accumulator of this type, a gas outlet (15-20), which discharges into the associated cavity (3-8), is provided for each cell at a distance from the fill opening (9-14) in the bottom cover (1), its size being dimensioned so that in the event of brief tipping of the accumulator, no more acid may escape from the cell than is received by the cavity (3-8) assigned thereto (FIG. 2).
    Type: Grant

Date of Patent: December 14, 2010
Assignees: Akkumulatorenfabrik Moll GmbH & Co. KG, Banner GmbH
Inventors: Manfred Gelbke, Richard Kermas, Peter Schumann, Peter Holzleitner, Norbert Maleschitz, Thomas Bawart

  • Patent number: 6368741
Abstract: A plug for batteries, especially for lead storage batteries is described in which gas exchange occurs through a liquid-impermeable and gas-permeable element (2) and in which an aerosol separator (3) is arranged between the element (2) and the gas space above the electrolyte. The aerosol separator according to the invention can be a centrifugal separator, a cascade separator, or an inertial separator or consist of a combination of at least two of the aforementioned.
