  • Patent number: 9742105
Abstract: A protective cover and an electrical connector assembly having the protective cover are disclosed. The protective cover has a body formed of an at least partly transparent or translucent electrically insulating material and an opaque electrically conductive layer disposed on the body. The electrically conductive layer has a radiation window penetrable by optical radiation formed by a plurality of radiation passages.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 26, 2016
Date of Patent: August 22, 2017
Assignees: Tyco Electronics Raychem GmbH, TE Connectivity Germany GmbH

  • Patent number: 9293872
Abstract: An adapter assembly includes an adapter body and a connector. The adapter body has a main leg and a cross leg. The main leg and cross leg have intersecting passages. The connector includes: an electrically conductive semi-flexible joint having first and second opposed joint ends; a first end portion on the first joint end, with the first end portion including a body configured to mechanically and electrically couple with an electrical conductor; and a second end portion on the second joint end, with the second end portion including a head configured to directly or indirectly electrically connect the semi-flexible joint to a termination of electrical equipment. The head is disposed in the cross leg passage and the semi-flexible joint is disposed in the main leg passage. The semi-flexible joint is configured to enable limited movement of the head relative to the cross leg passage.

  • Patent number: 5991141
Abstract: A failure indicator device for a surge arrester (2) employs a conventional explosive disconnector (10). Operation of the disconnector (10) due to earth fault current passing through the arrester (2) causes an arc to be formed. Movement of the disconnector (10) away from the arrester (2) is guided and limited by a support arrangement (18, 20) that subsequently provides a solid and permanent conductive path to earth (6) from the arrester terminal (12), thus extinguishing the arc.

  • Patent number: 5325087
Abstract: A surge arrester 2 comprises eight surge arresting varistor blocks 4 stacked within a polymeric outer insulating housing 14. A fibre optic cable 16 is fed into the surge arrester 2 through one end electrode 6, helically wound around all the blocks 4 in good thermal contact therewith and exits through the same electrode 6. A monitoring arrangement 18 compares the light incident on and emergent from the optical cable 16 to determine its integrity and thus the integrity of the surge arrester 2.
