Publication number: 20220067628Abstract: A system for improving performance includes a processor and a non-transitory computer readable medium. The system comprises instructions which can include assigning an agent corresponding to discrete decision points and assigning a scope based on a facility topology, and training the agent to learn a decision policy which provides a ranking for each of a possible decision that agents can take for a given scenario at any point in time. The ranking can be determined during a training phase by selecting actions that maximize one or factors of a global reward, the global reward accumulating the value of all facility operations over a duration of a scheduling period.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 12, 2021Publication date: March 3, 2022Inventors: Robert Mill, Granville Paules, IV, Matthew Coombes, Norbert Raus, Maciej Zieba, Rafal Nowak, Jeremi Kaczmarczyk, Piotr Semberecki

Patent number: 6914683Abstract: In a method and apparatus for detecting small periodic wave patterns in technical surfaces, monochromatic coherent primary light is directed onto a workpiece surface approximately at right angles to the expected periodic wave patterns, and at an angle of incidence that grazes the workpiece surface, creating a diffraction image of the waved surface structure in the secondary-light beam. The occurrence of two intensity maxima immediately indicates the presence of a periodic wave pattern, whose period is evaluated through inverse proportionality from the spacing of neighboring intensity maxima, while the depth of the wave troughs is determined from the intensity of neighboring intensity maxima and from the period. The intensity distribution in the diffraction image in the secondary-beam path is subjected to an autocorrelation, and both the period and the depth of the wave pattern can be calculated from the autocorrelation function.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1999Date of Patent: July 5, 2005Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Joerg Baumgart, Norbert Rau, Horst Truckenbrodt

Patent number: 6873722Abstract: The invention relates to a method of contactlessly ascertaining chatter marks in finely-machined workpiece surfaces, with the following steps: a contactlessly operating, high-resolution surface-measuring method is used to generate from the workpiece surface a data record representing the actual microtopography of the workpiece surface, to take away from this a data record representing the idealized macroform of the workpiece surface, and in this way to generate a data record representing the flat-extended form of the microtopography of the workpiece surface. This data record is subjected to a digital in-phase bandpass filtering with respect to its circumferential waviness, the waviness of interest here of the chatter marks preferably being allowed through. The data record formed in this way is for its part subjected to a stationary multiple cross correlation with respect to the transverse direction.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 2001Date of Patent: March 29, 2005Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Tobias Hercke, Norbert Rau, Michael Seibold

Patent number: 6670405Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing block-shaped and plate-shaped polymethacrylimide foamed materials by copolymerizing methylacrylic acid and methylacryl nitrile, by subjecting the copolymerizate to a post-polymerization and cyclization in order to form polyimide, and by converting the same into a foamed material. The invention is characterized in that the copolymerization is carried out in the presence of a mixture containing at least three initiators with graduated half-life periods. The polymerization can be controlled especially well and yields polymerizate plates with thicknesses of up to 80 mm which can be easily foamed. The invention makes it possible to produce filling materials, especially plates and blocks containing electrically conductive particles.Type: GrantFiled: October 16, 2001Date of Patent: December 30, 2003Assignee: Roehm GmbH & CO KGInventors: Sabine Servaty, Werner Geyer, Norbert Rau, Manfred Krieg

Patent number: 6106364Abstract: A process for grinding a cylindrical journal is provided, in which the workpiece is rotationally drivably received and held in a work spindle. The grinding disk, which is cylindrically trimmed on its outer circumference, is brought into engagement with the journal to be ground. In order to be able to avoid twist structures during the cylindrical grinding, or at least to keep them within tolerable limits, while approaching the desired circumferential speed of the grinding disk and that of the workpiece within a respectively permissible spread, the rotational disk speed under a load during the grinding and/or the rotational workpiece speed under a load is/are continuously changed during each grinding operation and/or adjusted such that the ratio of the rotational disk speed to the rotational workpiece speed is disharmonic to as high a degree as possible; that is, that integral or simple fractional ratios of the disk rotational speed to the workpiece rotational speed are avoided.Type: GrantFiled: September 17, 1998Date of Patent: August 22, 2000Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Volker Kruppke, Norbert Rau, Michael Seibold

Patent number: 6067720Abstract: A method for determining a torsional structure in the surface roughness of a finished shaft journal includes making a plurality of axial scores on a circumferential strip of the shaft journal, with a high axial measurement point density at different but exactly known circumferential positions as well as with exactly known axial positions. The individual local roughness profiles are printed out in a close sequence with respect to one another corresponding to their positions. The measurement charts are raised or elongated in the radial and axial directions and upset in the circumferential direction. Thus, a topography with multidimensional affinity showing the microstructure of the surface in three dimensions in a diagonal view is obtained. An autocorrelation function is formed from this topography, stochastic elements are eliminated, and a surface topography is obtained that essentially contains only the periodic elements.Type: GrantFiled: September 14, 1998Date of Patent: May 30, 2000Assignee: DaimlerChrysler AGInventors: Robert Heilbronner, Norbert Rau, Michael Seibold

Patent number: 4763006Abstract: A device is provided for the optical detection of form errors of a low order, for example of roughness. The device possesses a light source whose light probes the body to be examined and a light-receiving device for the light reflected by the body. The device is characterized by the fact that the light-receiving device consists of a number of light-receiving elements arranged in linear array and that an evaluation unit determines the inclination angle of the probed surface element of the body from all output signals of the light-receiving elements. Shifts in the core of the reflected light beam can be measured which are substantially below the width of a light-receiving element. The measuring results remain practically unaffected by form deviations of a higher order such as roughness etc.Type: GrantFiled: December 3, 1986Date of Patent: August 9, 1988Assignee: Optische Werke G.
