  • Patent number: 7601297
Abstract: A fragrance cartridge comprising a reservoir containing a fragrance material and provided with channels to permit ingress of carrier gas into the reservoir and egress of fragrance-containing carrier gas from the reservoir, the channels being defined by capillaries having internal diameter and length dimensions sufficient to act as closure means to prevent, or substantially prevent, leakage of fragrance from the reservoir into a head space external of the cartridge when carrier gas flow is interrupted. The cartridge can be used for example to enhance the sensorial perception of a viewer, listener or consumer of an audio and/or visual performance or presentation, by passing fragrance borne on the carrier into a head space local to the listener, viewer or consumer.

  • Patent number: 5350274
Abstract: A side channel machine has at least one impeller, which is rotatably mounted in the housing of the machine. The impeller includes a disk-shaped hub part and of a blade ring mounted on its periphery. The impeller can be mounted on the shaft of a drive motor by means of a hub bore provided on the hub part. In the case of this side channel machine, a side channel is formed at least on one side of the blade ring in the housing and extends circumferentially between one intake and one outlet port of the housing. Furthermore, sealing gaps are provided at least in the area of the hub part which is radially, inwardly contiguous to the blade ring between this hub part and the housing. A cleaning of the machine is rendered possible in that a supply line is provided in the area between the hub bore and the blade ring on the housing of the side channel machine. Through this supply line, a flushing fluid that will flow through the sealing gaps can be introduced into the housing.

  • Patent number: 5299916
Abstract: The present invention relates to a liquid-ring pump which effectively dampens noise by providing a blocking element arranged in its compression space in the flow path between the mouth of its output port and the outlet opening of its discharge connection. The blocking element covers this outlet opening and has a flow-through opening. The cross-section of the flow-through opening automatically adapts to the quantity of medium delivered by the pump at any given time.

  • Patent number: 4657487
Abstract: A device for generating a vacuum comprises a liquid-ring vacuum pump driven by an electric motor and operating with a working fluid. A mixture of compressed air and working fluid from the pump flows to a preseparator which separates a major portion of the working fluid from the gaseous mixture. The separated working fluid is fed from a reservoir in the preseparator via a liquid cooling coil back to the liquid-ring vacuum pump, while the gas still loaded with a residue of the working fluid is fed to a fine separator by means of a gas cooler, working fluid separated in the fine separator being returned to the pump via a return line. The preseparator and the fine separator are physically spaced from one another. The gas cooler and the liquid cooling coil are also physically spaced from one another and are located in the path of the cooling air stream for the electric motor.

  • Patent number: 4610602
Abstract: The invention discloses a rotary gas compressor for liquids which includes an impeller housing, an impeller rotatably mounted in the housing, a housing cover, a control disc arranged between the housing and the cover, and a suction intake and pressure outlet provided on the housing cover. Within the housing cover suction and pressure chambers are defined by a separating web arranged between the cover and the control disc. Into the suction chamber opens the suction intake provided on the housing cover; a suction slot provided in the control disc then provides communication with the impeller. The pressure outlet connection communicates with the pressure chamber, and a pressure slot provided in the control disc then also communicates with the impeller. One or more additional pressure apertures are arranged in the control disc adjacent to the pressure slot, and resilient valve tongues cover all of the additional apertures, except for one aperture to which a pressure pipe is connected.

  • Patent number: 4443158
Abstract: A liquid ring pump having a control disk interposed between the impeller housing and a cover provided with connecting stubs is disclosed. A seal is interposed between the cover and the control disk and pressed against the control disk by a supporting edge of the cover. The seal further has a central web separating the pressure and the suction spaces formed in the cover. The interior of the impeller housing is sealed from the exterior thereof at the edge resting against the control disk. Sealing at two spaced locations, i.e. at the edge of the housing and between the cover and the control disk, is accomplished with a one-piece seal in accordance with the invention by providing a cup-shaped seal which has at the free end of its circumferential wall a radially outward-extending bead which is pressed against the rim of the impeller housing by an edge of the cover which axially extends beyond the circumferential wall.

  • Patent number: 4204802
Abstract: In a side channel compressor, the blades arranged on the rotor are provided with a bevel on the back side of the blade at their lateral edges and the output characteristic can be changed by providing a slot-like recess at the blade edges in the entrance region of the blades. If required, such slot-like recess can be made as a retrofit.
