  • Publication number: 20040026305
Abstract: A device for the emulsification and separation of small amounts of immiscible liquid phases has essentially a cover plate (2), which can be tightly connected to a base plate (1), where microchannels (4,4a,5,6,6a) in the form of grooves are cut out on the inner surface (3,3a) of the base plate (1) and/or cover plate (2). In a mixing zone, two microchannels (4,4a) run in a wave shape crossing one another a number of times. In a subsequent separation zone, they run essentially straight combined in a common microchannel (5). The otherwise tightly sealed-off microchannels (4,4a,5,6,6a) can be filled and emptied again via inlet apertures (8,8a) and outlet apertures (9,9a).

  • Patent number: 6632043
Abstract: A connection coupling forms a line connection for liquid or gaseous substances to microcomponents (1) in platelet form. A coupling body (2), which is substantially U-shaped in cross section, accommodates the edge of the plate-like microcomponent (1) between an upper limb plate (3), which has the line connection (14), and a lower limb plate (5). An edge web (6) forms a transverse stop for an edge (8) of the microcomponent (1). A further stop means, for example a lug (9), forms a longitudinal stop for positioning of the microcomponents (1).

  • Patent number: 5904424
Abstract: A device for mixing very small quantities of liquids comprises at least one mixing element with at least one inlet channel and at least one outlet channel; at least two microchannels issue from the inlet channel, all such issuing channels lying in a single branching plane. The microchannels are led to a confluence element in a plane which is rotated 90 degrees in relation to the branching plane. The mixer element is arranged in the planar surface of a substrate, the planar surface being hermetically sealed by a covering. The invention concerns a device for mixing liquids in which mixing is effected by the flow of the liquids to be mixed through narrow channels.
