  • Patent number: 5484034
Abstract: A motor vehicle has a supporting frame with a bearer part which is arranged thereon and on which, in turn, additional units together with their connecting lines are pre-assembled. To simplify assembly or repair, the frame has, in the region of the wheel housing, a perforation. In the region of the perforation, the bearer part is assembled. After the mounting of the bearer part equipped with the additional units and the connection or laying of the connecting lines, the perforation is subsequently closed. That is, after the painting of the frame, the perforation is closed by a cover plate which can be attached on the outside.

  • Patent number: 5048888
Abstract: A subassembly for the front and rear region of a motor vehicle, which comprises two longitudinal members to which a subframe designed as assembly carrier is attached by one end region of two elongate carrier parts. The members are together used for energy absorption in the case of a vehicle impact and are fixed by their ends, which project as far as a passenger compartment, with laterally spaced longitudinal members reinforcing the latter at the vehicle floor. After they have been fixed on the longitudinal members, the carrier parts extend freely with a portion oriented approximately in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle towards the passenger compartment and are guided with an obtuse-angled bend about a vertical axis towards the respective proximate longitudinal member and attached to the latter. Near to the bend, these carrier parts are connected in the longitudinally oriented portion by a subframe cross member.

  • Patent number: 4900082
Abstract: A front section for a motor vehicle, especially passenger motor vehicle which has the task during normal driving operation to absorb without permanent deformation the forces stemming from the wheel suspension and to absorb by deformation the energy occurring in case of an impact of the vehicle. The front section according to the invention should be manufacturable cost-favorably and rationally with a small number of parts and is to offer a high safety for the vehicle passengers. The end wall of the front section is thereby divided horizontally into an upper part and a lower part, and the fork bearer is made of an upper shell and of a lower shell while one shell of the fork bearer is made in one piece with the lower part of the end wall. The front section made in this manner offers additionally a high degree of safety for the vehicle passengers in the passenger cell and is suited especially for passenger motor vehicles in which longitudinal bearers are supported at an end wall by way of fork bearers.

  • Patent number: 4359120
Abstract: An automotive vehicle, especially a passenger motor vehicle, with front body sections yielding with respect to forces of a magnitude of a pedestrian impact acting from the front and/or from above the body sections. The body sections are constructed so as to be impact-resilient along their boundary edges. The vehicle body sections include a front hood and/or body portions surrounding the front hood, with the hood and surrounding body parts being supported on reinforcing parts of the vehicle body structure by way of permanently deformable deformation members.

  • Patent number: 4189177
Abstract: A forward longitudinal bearer supported under angular bending at the end wall of a self-supporting motor vehicle body, whereby the end wall is locally bulged out in the direction toward the respective vehicle end within the connecting area of each forward longitudinal bearer in such a manner that a form-rigid body results; each forward longitudinal bearer is forked in its approach at the form-rigid body and the arms resulting therefrom at least partially surround the form-rigid body.

  • Patent number: 4129330
Abstract: An understructure of a self-supporting motor vehicle body which includes two forward longitudinal bearers extending initially approximately parallel to the vehicle longitudinal direction at a distance from one another which are connected with the outside of the end wall continuing as main floor, extend at their vehicle inner ends outwardly in the direction toward two outer longitudinal bearers and are supported at the latter; the longitudinal bearer thereby forms a profile section of the outer longitudinal bearer within the connecting area of the longitudinal bearer and of the outer longitudinal bearer.

  • Patent number: 4057263
Abstract: A vehicle frame consisting of longitudinal bearers with hollow profile which are interconnected near their ends by at least one transversely extending element; at least one of the edges of the longitudinal bearers is provided with intentionally weakened places for reducing the compressive strength in the end areas, which are constructed as beads or corrugations that extend preferably in the vehicle transverse direction; the beads or corrugations may thereby have their greatest depth in the area of the edges and after reaching the bearer walls adjoining on both sides thereof, run out in the plane thereof.

  • Patent number: 4030744
Abstract: A U-shaped motor vehicle bumper of elastic material whose edge areas are brought into abutment against inclined outwardly directed walls of a mounting support by means of a plate which has a spacing from the mounting support on all sides.
