Abstract: A method for address configuration for a master/slave system via a field bus for serial data transmission, wherein a master unit is connected to the field bus, is characterized in that a number range for addresses of slave units on the field bus is divided into a static range and a dynamic range, that at least one new slave unit is connected to the field bus, that a respective initial field bus address from the dynamic range is programmed into the at least one new slave unit, via which initial field bus address the at least one new slave unit can respectively be addressed. The master unit queries the dynamic range of the addresses of slave units, the master unit receives a respective response message from the at least one new slave unit to the query, and the master unit transmits a target field bus address.
