  • Patent number: 11289992
Abstract: In an UPS system, following components are arranged in a machine cabinet: an AC-to-DC converter connected to a DC voltage link on its output side, a DC-to-AC converter connected to the DC voltage link on its input side; a motor/generator electrically connected to the DC voltage link and having a flywheel coupled to its rotor; a bypass to the AC-to-DC converter and the DC-to-AC converter connected in series, a bypass switch being arranged in the bypass; a controller; and a blower which draws air out of the surroundings through air filters, blows the air in the machine cabinet through a heat exchanger, and ejects the air again. The heat exchanger is arranged in a coolant circuit together with a coolant pump, cooling bodies for the power output stages, and coolant channels which include stator channels running through a stator of the motor/generator.

  • Patent number: 7038330
Abstract: A wind power station comprises a wind rotor; a transmission mechanically coupled to the wind rotor; an asynchronous generator having a generator rotor mechanically coupled to the transmission, and a generator stator electrically coupled to a power grid; and a protection unit protecting the generator and the transmission against accidental breakdowns of an alternating voltage provided by the power grid. The Protection unit includes at least one choke electrically arranged between the power grid and the generator stator, and a synchronous electrical machine electrically coupled to the choke.

  • Patent number: 6573626
Abstract: An apparatus for uninterruptedly supplying power includes an electrical machine including a rotor and being designed and arranged to be connected to a load to be supplied with alternating current. Coupling units include a differential transmission including three input/output shafts. A flywheel is designed and arranged to store kinetic energy and to be connected to the rotor by the coupling units. Control units include a controllable brake and at least one electrical auxiliary machine to be operated as a motor. The electrical auxiliary machine and the controllable brake engage the third input/output shaft. The control units keep the number of rotations of the electrical machine approximately constant when the electrical machine is operated as a generator by kinetic energy being stored in the flywheel.

  • Patent number: 6424057
Abstract: An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) system (3) is to be inserted between a alternating current (AC) power supply (4), interruptions of which are to be compensated for, and at least one load (5), which is to be supplied with alternating current (AC) or direct current (DC).

  • Patent number: 6113023
Abstract: In order to improve upon a take-up device for a line comprising a frame on which a take-up drum for the line is mounted so as to be rotatable about an axis, and a rotary coupling between a line terminal fixed to the frame and a line terminal fixed to the take-up drum, in such manner that as reliable as possible a rotary coupling is provided, it is proposed that the rotary coupling comprises a first auxiliary drum which co-rotates with the take-up drum and a second auxiliary drum which is fixed relative to the frame, that the rotary coupling comprises a rotating element which is rotatable about the rotation axis at a lower speed than the first auxiliary drum, and that the rotary coupling comprises a connection line which can be wound onto or unwound from the first auxiliary drum, passes from the first auxiliary drum to the rotating element in a first strand and passes from the rotating element to the second auxiliary drum in a second strand, and can be unwound from or wound onto said second auxiliary drum.

  • Patent number: 5481145
Abstract: In order to provide a power recovery plant comprising a gas turbine with a turbine wheel and a generator with a rotor driven by the turbine wheel, in which the known bearing problems are diminished or even cease, it is suggested that the turbine and the generator be combined in a plant housing to form one unit, that the turbine wheel and the rotor form a rotor unit rotating as a whole and that the rotor unit be rotatably mounted in the plant housing by magnetic bearing units in a non-contact manner.
