  • Patent number: 10538354
Abstract: An object is first wrapped with a strip of thermoplastic film such that upper edges of the strip project upward past a top face of the object and fold inward onto outer edge regions of the top face of the object. Then a cover sheet is laid on the top face over the folded-in edges of the strip with outer edges of the cover sheet projecting outward past and hanging down around the wrapped object outside the film strip. A heated plate is then pressed down against the cover sheet and hot air is blown against the strip on the side faces so as to shrink the strip against the side faces and such that the hot air rises and welds the outer cover-sheet edges sheet to the strip around upper regions of the side faces.

  • Publication number: 20140366488
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for shrinking a shrink film (1) onto a stack of goods (2), wherein a shrink frame (3) is provided, which can be moved on the stack of goods and which surrounds the stack of goods while the shrink film is shrunk on. The shrink frame has a plurality of heating apparatuses distributed over the perimeter of the shrink frame for heating the shrink film for the shrinking process. Furthermore, there is a cover plate (6) that covers the stack of goods and that is arranged in particular at a distance from the top side (7) of the stack of goods during the shrinking process. Side walls (11) extending along the stack of goods are provided between the shrink frame and the cover plate, and intermediate spaces for the heated gases flowing upward are formed between the stack of goods and the side walls. The cover plate can be moved toward the top side of the stack of goods and can be moved away from the top side of the stack of goods.

  • Patent number: 8776486
Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping an object with a film has a film-feed head having a drive for pulling the film from a supply and feeding it in a feed direction through the head toward an object to be wrapped with the film and a pull-down device downstream in the direction from the head for drawing the film around the object. A blower directs a stream of air in the feed head parallel and immediately adjacent to the film and in the feed direction so as to entrain the film in the direction.

  • Patent number: 8684658
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for aligning an item that can be deformed easily, at least in the region of the outer lower edge. The apparatus has at least one aligning device that can be displaced in the direction of the item, and the transport substrate upon which the item is resting, in order to align the item on the transport substrate. For damage-free alignment of the item projecting laterally from the transport substrate contour, the subregion of the aligning device which comes into contact with the lower region of the item projecting laterally includes a stabilizing device. The stabilizing device prevents the item from being deflected, during the alignment process, in the direction of the transport substrate or, respectively, in a downward direction from the lower region of the item projecting laterally beyond the outer contour of the transport substrate.

  • Patent number: 7966790
Abstract: An apparatus for pulling a tubular film down over a large object has at least two guide and roller assemblies each flanking the object and each movable vertically along the object. Each assembly has a guide, an outer roller and an inner roller. The film is gathered by positioning the assemblies in an upper position, orienting the inner rollers generally below the outer rollers, and rotating the rollers while gripping the hood between them to pull the tube down and form it into folds beneath the roller assemblies. The film is pulled down over the object by orienting the inner rollers generally above the outer rollers, and then shifting the roller assemblies downward while rotating the rollers so as to pull the tube up and unfold it.

  • Patent number: 7670100
Abstract: In a stack of flexible sheets on a substrate having an outer edge, some of the sheets project laterally past one of the edges. The stack is tamped together by a stabilizing element shiftable horizontally toward and away from the one edge of the substrate and a drive that shifts the stabilizing element horizontally toward the stack and substrate for engaging the projecting sheets and pushing same inward on substrate to a position lying on or inward of the outer edge without vertically bending or deflecting the sheets.

  • Publication number: 20070151211
Abstract: A foil hood is wrapped around a load by first positioning a respective tensioning finger immediately adjacent each corner of the load in an inner position with the fingers relatively close and then gathering the hood into vertically stacked folds and fitting the gathered hood over the fingers with an open end of the hood downward. Then the fingers are spread outward away from the load-into outer positions spaced from the load to transversely stretch the hood. The fingers are then downward until a closed end of the hood engages the top of the load, and the fingers are shifted toward each other into intermediate positions lying outward of the inner positions and inward of the inner positions so as to relieve some of the stretch in the hood, whereupon the fingers are further downward so that the hood is pulled upward fold-by-fold off the fingers.

  • Patent number: 7234289
Abstract: A foil hood is gathered into a stack of folds and then fitted over four fingers in inner positions of the fingers with the hood open downward. A holding device then clamps the hood against the fingers, the fingers are spread into outer positions to transversely stretch the hood, and then the holding device is disengaged. Finally the fingers are moved downward along the load such that the closed end of the hood engages on the top of the load and the hood is pulled upward fold-by-fold off the fingers through a predetermined position at which generally all of the folds have been pulled off the fingers to an end position at which the hood is stretched vertically over the load and all of the folds have been pulled off the fingers.

  • Patent number: 7021029
Abstract: A stack of object is wrapped by first transversely outwardly stretching a tube having open ends and then pulling the transversely outwardly stretched tube over the stack to a position with the tube extending generally a full length of the stack and one open end of the tube projecting past an end of the stack. Then the tube is released such that it retracts into engagement with sides of the stack and the one open tube end bears on the end of the stack at least adjacent edges of the end of the stack.

  • Publication number: 20050115206
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved device and method for wrapping unit loads or packaged goods (3) using an at least approximately hood-shaped, elastic section of film (25) which is gathered into folds (26), stretched, and then pulled over the unit load or packed goods (3). The gathered film section (25) is stretched by means of a covering element (1) which can be displaced along the unit load or packaged goods (3), and is pulled over the unit load or packaged goods (3).

  • Patent number: 6898868
Abstract: A hood-shaped foil covering an object is heat-shrunk around the object by displacing the object covered by the foil along a generally straight path in a transport direction past a stationary heater which is directed at an acute angle to the direction. The position of the object relative to the heater as it passes the heater in the direction is detected and heat is projected from the heater at the acute angle to the direction at the object as it passes at a rate varied in accordance with the detected position of the object relative to the heater.

  • Patent number: 6865865
Abstract: An apparatus for wrapping an object with a stretchable foil hood has a pair of gathering fingers engageable upwardly into the foil hood, two gathering wheels outside the foil hood, rotatable about gathering-wheel axes, and engageable with the hood, and respective counter rolls inside the foil hood, aligned with the gathering wheels to pinch the foil hood, and rotatable about counter-roll axes below the respective gathering-wheel axes. The gathering wheel are rotated while in contact with the foil to form the foil into downwardly and outwardly extending folds.

  • Patent number: 6845600
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for wrapping unit loads or packaged goods (2) using a section of elastic film (8) that is at least approximately hood-shaped, whereby the section of film is gathered and pulled over the unit load or packaged goods. The invention aims to provide a significantly faster packaging method of this type, which can be used in branches of industry with high production figures, e.g. white goods (dishwashers, refrigerators etc.). To achieve this, the section of film is gathered by a gathering device (3), then taken by a covering device (6) that can be displaced separately and subsequently pulled over the unit load or packaged goods, in particular being stretched beforehand. Another section of film can be gathered by the gathering device, while the previous section of film is still being pulled over the unit load or packaged goods.
