    Abstract: Thermosetting coating substances containing as binding agent 5 to 35 weight-percent of triazine resins, especially benzoguanamine resins, or blocked polyisocyanate resins, and 95 to 65 weight-parts of saturated polyesters of terephthalic and/or isophthalic acids and 100 to 70 mole-% of bis-(hydroxymethyl)-tricyclodecane and 0 to 30 mole-% of additional diols, especially 2,2-dimethylpropanediol-1,3, yield varnish coatings on metals, which coatings are stable under sterilization conditions against acid contents in containers, especially acid foodstuff preparations.

The compounds are useful as comonomers and as cross linking agents in polymerization of unsaturated compounds.
