  • Patent number: 5154783
Abstract: A tread design for a pneumatic tire of radial construction for high-speed vehicles is provided. The tire has a tread design that comprises profiled elements that each comprise, starting from a centrally disposed circumferential groove, in succession, a first part that is disposed adjacent to the central groove and extends parallel to the equatorial planes of the tire, aa longer, elongated central portion that extends at an angle of 5.degree. to 30.degree. to the equatorial plane and ends in a bend region, and a fork-shaped end portion that is disposed in a shoulder region of the tire and extends at an angle of 60.degree. to 90.degree.

  • Patent number: 5131443
Abstract: A tread design for a pneumatic tire of radial construction for high-speed vehicles is provided. The tread design comprises profiled elements that are steeply oriented in the circumferential direction at an angle to the equatorial plane of the tire and are arranged in the shape of V's. The profiled elements extend in a continuous manner from a central portion of the tread into shoulder regions of the tire and are angled-off at a bend region in these shoulder regions. Respective continuous, inclined grooves that proceed from the central portion of the tread to the shoulder regions are formed between the profile elements. Respective fork-shaped elements are provided in the shoulder regions in the vicinity of ends of the profiled elements remote from the central portion of the tread, with each fork-shaped element being provided with at least one short groove that opens into the shoulder region away from the bend region thereof.

  • Patent number: 4676288
Abstract: A vehicle wheel and tire assembly. In the event of an emergency operation, the pneumatic tire contacts a support member of the rim. A stabilizing arrangement protects the wheel and tire assembly from moving in an uncontrolled manner. This stabilizing arrangement is in the form of a corrugation, which is provided both on the inner surface of the tire and on the support member of the rim. This corrugation, which can be a fine groove system, reliably assures that the tire and the rim are provided with steering stability, especially when driving in curves.

  • Patent number: 4641670
Abstract: A vehicle wheel having a one-piece wheel rim on which can be mounted a pneumatic tire. The tire has a tread strip, two sidewalls, a carcass, and two tire beads which are laterally spaced from one another and contain substantially inextensible bead cores. The wheel rim has two rim shoulders, which are laterally spaced from one another and extend outwardly into a respective rim edge or into a respective rim flange. The rim also has a radially recessed rim base. The wheel further includes an emergency operation support member which is disposed in the recessed rim base and has a supporting surface which is located radially outwardly of the rim flange. The emergency operation support member is provided with a radially inner surface which faces the rim shoulder and is disposed at a distance from the latter, this distance corresponding to at least the thickness of the tire bead. An annular chamber is provided which extends further radially inwardly to the recessed rim base, and is widened axially inwardly.

  • Patent number: 4387754
Abstract: A tire tread pattern wherein all the ribs have a continuous structure in the circumferential direction, and more or less transverse notches provided in a given rib extend a predetermined distance beyond the center-line of that rib from a circumferential edge thereof.

  • Patent number: 4362201
Abstract: A pneumatic vehicle tire having a tread provided with profiled ribs extending continuously in the circumferential direction, and with circumferential continuous grooves which separate the profiled ribs from each other. A plurality of meandering profiled ribs are provided, and their laterally outer side edges have obtuse-angled serrations or toothing. Inwardly, these ribs are provided with linearly extending blind grooves which are oriented at an angle to the circumferential direction. Block-rib parts are formed with an inclined gable embodiment. Furthermore, the circumferential grooves have a zig-zag shape.
