  • Publication number: 20090035467
Abstract: Disclosed is an ink 2 containing colorant matter, a solvent for dispersing the colorant matter and further a polyhydric alcohol. The polyhydric alcohol has a ratio (I/O) of an inorganic value (IV) to an organic value (OV) not less than 1.18 and not more than 2.5 and contains a hydrocarbon group with not more than 9 carbon atoms. The 0-second dynamic surface tension of the ink 2 is not less than 30 mN/m and not more than 40 mN/m. With the use of the ink 2, small-sized bubbles are suppressed from being generated, and emission failures, such as non-emission or warped emission of the ink 2, may be prevented from occurring, so that an image of high dignity may be printed which is free from blurring or non-printed white spots.

  • Patent number: 6547616
Abstract: An image display panel is prepared which has in an in-plane thereof an image display area for displaying an image and a framing area surrounding the image display area. Light shielding ink is supplied from an ink supply source to at least a partial surface area of the framing area of the image display panel. In this case, the ink supply source is made not in contact with the image display panel. Even if the frame structure of an image display device such as a liquid crystal display is made narrow, the image quality in a peripheral area of the image display area becomes hard to be lowered.

  • Patent number: 5796458
Abstract: An element division liquid crystal display device with a liquid crystal inserted between first and second plates having alignment films, respectively. The alignment film of at least the first plate includes a single layer of alignment material having a plurality of first and second adjacent domains A and B and is continuously rubbed in one direction through first and second minute domains A and B. A further treatment, different from a rubbing treatment, is effected to the single alignment layer so that a pretilt angle of the liquid crystal contacting the alignment layer at one of the first and second domains is different from the pretilt angle of the liquid crystal contacting the alignment layer at the other domain. The further treatment includes one of the steps of irradiating with UV light, changing the chemical components of the material of the alignment layer, heating or changing the precuring process.

  • Patent number: 5629056
Abstract: The liquid crystal display panel which has improved viewing angle characteristics, is free from deterioration of a liquid crystal, enables the alignment division to be easily and ensurely carried out and has a simple structure. The liquid crystal display panel is constructed so that substrates sandwiching a liquid crystal therebetween each have an alignment film at their inner walls, at least one of the alignment films comprises a layer of a particular polyimide film material capable of inducing a change in surface energy upon the action of light or heat energy, the alignment film comprises an assembly of two adjacent minute domains and has been continuously rubbed in one direction along the minute domains and the two minute domains are different from each other in pretilt angle (defined as an angle at which liquid crystalline molecules rise from the surface of the substrate).
