  • Patent number: 10252743
Abstract: An electric power steering device is provided, easing a sense of incongruity that a driver feels with respect to steering. If an abnormal phase is detected, an electronic control unit (ECU) 50 stops energizing a winding (any one of windings 86u, 86v and 86w) of the abnormal phase and energizes windings (two of the windings 86u, 86v and 86w) of the two phases other than the abnormal phase, and, as a vehicle speed V increases, the ECU 50 reduces a current value applied to the windings (two of the windings 86u, 86v and 86w) of the two phases other than the abnormal phase.

  • Patent number: 10112648
Abstract: A vehicle steering device includes an electric motor; a steering angle sensor; a steering torque sensor; a wheel speed sensor; a cruise controller; and a wheel-alignment support controller configured to compute an anti-one-side pull current value fed to the electric motor for suppressing a one-side pull behavior of a vehicle. The wheel-alignment support controller calculates, according to an integrated torque value, the amount of displacement of an anti-one-side pull steering angle value that corresponds to a midpoint steering angle of a steering system for suppressing the one-side pull behavior of the vehicle. When the vehicle is under cruise control and the vehicle speed is below a first threshold Vth1, the wheel-alignment support controller makes the amount of displacement of the anti-one-side pull steering angle value smaller than that obtained when the vehicle speed is equal to or above the first threshold Vth1.

  • Patent number: 9902394
Abstract: A vehicle behavior information acquisition device includes: a neutral characteristic setting unit in which a vehicle velocity-neutral yaw rate characteristic where a behavior of a user's vehicle is supposed to be in a neutral state is previously set based on a vehicle velocity and a steering angle of the vehicle; and a behavior information acquisition unit for acquiring behavior information including an understeer state of the vehicle based on an actual yaw rate, a vehicle velocity, a steering angle, and a vehicle velocity-neutral yaw rate characteristic previously set in the neutral characteristic setting unit. The behavior information acquisition unit acquires behavior information indicating that the vehicle is in an understeer state in a case where a deviation between the actual yaw rate and a neutral yaw rate based on the vehicle velocity, the steering angle, and the vehicle velocity-neutral yaw rate characteristic exceeds a predetermined deviation threshold.

  • Patent number: 9828023
Abstract: An electric power steering device includes a steering angle reference yaw rate calculation section that calculates a steering angle reference yaw rate by using a speed of a vehicle and a steering angle of a steering wheel, a torque estimation device that estimates a self-aligning torque (SAT) generated in a turning wheel of the vehicle on the basis of a measured yaw rate or the steering angle reference yaw rate, the absolute value of which is smaller, and the speed of the vehicle, and estimates a required assist torque on the basis of the estimated SAT, and an abnormality determination section that determines whether or not a steering torque sensor is abnormal. If the steering torque sensor is abnormal, an EPS control device controls drive of an assist motor using the required assist torque estimated by the torque estimation device, in place of a steering torque.

  • Patent number: 9533705
Abstract: A vehicle steering system can keep the comfort of steering feeling for a driver, even in a situation, such as traveling on a cant road or in a crosswind, where a unidirectional-drift behavior of a vehicle occurs, and includes an electric motor, a steering angle sensor, a steering torque sensor, and an EPS_ECU that controls driving power of the electric motor, when the vehicle is traveling straight, based on vehicle information including a steering torque and a steering angle, to perform a control for applying an assist torque to a steering system. The EPS_ECU includes an integrating unit for calculating an integrated torque value obtained by integrating the steering torque, and a steering effort assist controlling unit for performing an anti-unidirectional-drift control over the driving power of the electric motor, when the integrated torque value exceeds the threshold value, so as to cancel the unidirectional-drift behavior of the vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20110282550
Abstract: A steering apparatus for a vehicle is provided in which since a steering wheel (12) is provided with a switch (20L, 20R) that outputs an electrical signal in response to an operation by a driver's finger, and a vehicle wheel (W) is turned by operating a steering actuator (17) according to an electrical signal outputted by the switch (20L, 20R), a turning angle of the vehicle wheel (W) can be freely increased and decreased matching the driver's intention merely by operating the switch (20L, 20R) without changing the hold on the steering wheel (12) in a state in which the steering wheel (12) is operated and the vehicle wheel (W) is turned. Moreover, since the switch (20L, 20R) is housed in a recess (12b) formed on a surface of a rim portion (12a) of the steering wheel (12) without projecting from the surface thereof, it is possible to reliably prevent the switch (20L, 20R) from being erroneously operated against a driver's intention during operation of the steering wheel (12).
